Martha Stewart's Daughter Alexis Will Have Baby Via Surrogate

Martha Stewart might want to start knitting those baby booties! The domestic diva's daughter, Alexis Stewart, has decided to have a child via surrogate after years of trying to get pregnant with in-vitro fertility treatments.

"Alexis has now decided on having a baby via a surrogate, and Martha is fully supportive," a source close to the situation tells Page Six.

The identity of the surrogate is not known and a rep for Martha and Alexis would only say, "We do not comment on personal matters."

However Alexis has been very open in the past about her desire to have a child and previously revealed that she'd spent up to $27,000 a month on fertility treatments over the course of two years.

During an interview a few years ago Alexis opened up about her struggle to conceive and how important it was to her to become a mother. "I'm single now, but having my own kid is the most important thing in my life, so I am trying everything I can: fancy doctors, expensive drugs, high-tech procedures," she said.

"A child is your legacy. What better thing can you do in life than put a really good person in the world who's going to make it a better place?"

And apparently mom Martha is just as eager to become a grandmother. "My mom's just desperate. She has wanted grandchildren forever...She's always like, 'For my birthday, I would like you to be pregnant.' And I'm like, 'Me, too!'"

Well, this should work out better. She's wasted so much time trying the other route. I like her on Sirius...how she speaks her mind.

Yes, she's a strong personality type. Good for her!

I'm not sure about Alexis. She comes off as incredibly cold, self-centered, and a bit unstable. I can't remember if she's had eating disorders. It's understandable because Martha is kind of like that and a huge perfectionist so I imagine being her daughter was very challenging. I hope Alexis changes for the better once this baby arrives and actually dedicates time to raising it.
