Kate Winslet’s Cab Cutie

Kate Winslet's Cab Cutie

Kate Winslet was spotted with her son Joe, 7 later this month, after school in New York City on Thursday (December 2). Joe enjoyed a drink and some hugs while mom tried to hail a cab in the West Village.

The Academy Award-winning actress is moving her children – including 10-year-old daughter Mia – back to the U.K. while her estranged husband Sam Mendes films the new James Bond movie.

Kate said: “Sam is doing the next Bond film, all being well, and we’ll all be in England if that happens.” She added, “It’s such a massive commitment for him and it’s not fair for him to commute backwards and forwards to New York from London. It would be impossible. The children will be there with me.”

Mia’s biological father is Kate’s ex Jim Threapleton.

That’s pretty nice of her to do that. She didn’t have to. She really wants him to be involved in the children’s lives even if their marriage is over.

I agree with Hanh’s comment. It’s also important to put the children first. She seems like a really great mother and person in general. These pictures are too cute, albeit a little intrusive. She’s trying to cover his face in some of them!

She didn’t seem to mind taking her daughter by first husband Jim to the other side of the world so he couldn’t see her on a regular basis.

@Julie Smith She didn’t permanently move to New York, first of all. After she and Jim broke up, she found a new love and they started their life together in a different place. But she said herself she divides her time between the US and the UK, mainly for the reason that Mia can see her dad. Her dad also comes to the US and visits. He’s also got a family of his own now. They’re both still very friendly with one another and were even pictured together with the kids not too long ago.
