James Hetfield: Metallica Has Become "More Family-Friendly"

Metallica frontman James Hetfield says he's made his band's live shows ''more family-friendly'' since becoming a father. The 47-year-old father of three children - Cali, 12, Castor, 10, and Marcella, 8 - with wife Francesca has toned down his language when playing live for the sake of the kids in the audience.

Since I've had kids the show's become more family-friendly as far as the language goes," James said. "We haven't played 'So What' in a while - there are too many words that just aren't right. My son's heard them all, but I don't need to promote them."

The rockstar papa also says he keeps an eye on the songs his son buys online.

Now and then I get an email from iTunes saying, 'Here's what your son bought.' He loves the Ramones, AC/DC, the Red Hot Chili Peppers right now," James said. "He buys some Metallica stuff - I saw 'I Disappear', 'Unforgiven' and 'Enter Sandman' on there. He actually bought them. I'm like, 'Dude, how are you going to pay for these?'"

James is pictured above with Marcella and Castor on holidays in Punta del Este in December 2009.

Metallica have recently completed their world tour in support of their latest album Death Magnetic.

Yeah, because I wanna hear "family-friendly" Metallica. *rolls eyes*
I get what they're trying to do, but...you know what, nevermind. I won't increase my chances of getting carpel tunnel (sp?) professing my love for Metallica. lol
