Wait – that headline sounded wrong. Actually Paul Rudd built a bar in his basement dedicated to his son Jack, 5. You can call off the authorities now – there isn’t any underage drinking going on.
Paul’s father came up with the original idea. “When my son was born we named him Jack Sullivan Rudd and my father said, ‘I’m gonna build my grandson his own Irish pub,'” the How Do You Know actor recalled. “So he converted the basement of his house and turned it into an Irish pub called Sullivan’s. And about a year later, when he finished, I went to see it and he had Guinness on draught and everything, it’s brilliant.”
“It doesn’t look like you built a pub in a house, it looks like someone built a house over a pub!”
Paul was so impressed he decided to follow his dad’s lead. “A few years ago, I bought a house upstate [in New York] and built Sullivan’s East. It’s amazing, it’s got tin ceilings, a 30-foot bar, Guinness on draught, shuffleboards, historical artifacts and stuff.”
I’ll bet I know where Jack’s going when he turns 21!
