To Darius Rucker‘s three kids, dad’s fame is no big deal. After all, his first album as the lead singer for Hootie & the Blowfish came out one year before his oldest child, Carol, 15, was born. But the Grammy Award-winner, who is also dad to Danielle, 9, and Jack, 5, says there are certain perks that still impress.
“My kids know that I can get them in to meet people, and trust me, I’ve done the Justin Bieber concerts,” Darius laughs. “They know that part of it!”
Darius, who is now a best-selling country artist, gushes about his 10-year marriage to wife Beth but also admits it’s not always a smooth road. “Marriage is not easy,” he says. “You have to decide to work. That’s what it really comes down to, two people deciding to stay together or not.
“I work hard to let my wife know how much I love her,” he acknowledges. “I try to do that every day. Romantic stuff is not something I really remember. I’m sure she could tell you some stuff that I’ve done that’s really cool, but for me, I just want her to be happy.
“She’s a strong woman. It’s hard to be married to me, and it was a lot harder when I was younger! Here we are 10 years later, madly in love. It’s a good place to be.”
