Nicole Kidman Gives More Details On Baby Faith

Nicole Kidman opened up about her new daughter Faith Margaret on the red carpet at the Screen Actors Guild Awards Sunday night. USmagazine.com reports that while speaking to E!'s Giuliana Rancic, the actress explained why she and Keith Urban kept the news of Faith a secret.

She said, "I wanted to be able to tell everybody because I was so excited about her. We just decided this was our thing together. It kind of just perpetuated itself."

"[And] it protects her," she added, "and it protects everyone in the situation."

As for choosing the name, the actress says it was a natural choice.

We needed to have that through the whole pregnancy. That's what it required -- a lot of faith."

As for Margaret, "It's that southern double name," she said.

It's also Kidman's grandmother's name, who was her "inspiration" and "had her last baby at 49."

The baby was born five weeks ago via surrogate at a Nashville hospital. Urban and Kidman are the biological parents.
