Mariah Carey took to Twitter Monday afternoon (March 28) to share a new pic of her growing belly.
The expectant songstress posted a photo of her beautifully painted belly, boasting a colourful butterfly and the text “dem babies” above.
Mariah and her husband, Nick Cannon – who are waiting on the arrival of their twins, due next month – got a bit of a surprise Saturday night (March 26) when the mom-to-be experienced early contractions and had to make a trip to the hospital.
“I started having contractions last night,” Mariah tweeted yesterday, on her 42nd birthday. “Finally they said I could come home after they got it under control.”
Recently, Nick revealed that he might need to “woman up” before his wife goes into labour: “I am probably going to faint in the delivery room! I need to man up!” he tweeted. “Or maybe I should say WOMAN UP since they are the ones that have to be the strongest in the whole ordeal!”
“I am in awe of my wife!”

I think she's going to have the babies some time in the next few days, especially after the false alarm this weekend.

She must be about 36 weeks along.... The average twin pregnancy is 36 weeks.... Now its just icing-on-the -cake-time, in utero, for that duo! Lucky lady, lucky baby boy and baby girl. Now, I wonder what their names will be--Butterfly and Caterpillar? Just kidding... Maybe not? ;)

She can do whatever she wants. If Mariah wants to keep her butterflies and unicorns, rainbows and glitter, she can. It's not like she's hurting anyone else or going to affect her kids.

Belly buttons usually stick out pretty far this late in pregnancy, but it looks to me like she's just using them as the body of the butterfly.
The painted baby stomach is cute! Why not have some fun with the pregnancy? Some people are just too glum and serious.

I don't get the one comment that was posted...... Are only children allowed to enjoy butterflies? Shes found something in life that she truly enjoys the beauty off and for that she needs to grow up? um it's been part of her logo since 1997 and the butterfly is also a good luck charm for women with fertility issues. she's 38 weeks along as she said in one of the tweets about the false labor episode that she's due in two weeks April 10th/11th.

As with all the comments on the name butterfly, ever thought she might call her daughter Vanessa, Kimana, Parvana, Nova or Papillion? These are all names meaning butterfly.

yes, only children are allowed to enjoy butterflies, unicorns, and fairy princesses...forget that this is "mariah carey" and imagine it's the 40 yo woman in the cube/office next to yours..are u telling me that you would think she was cute or would you think she was certifiable.
I for one wouldn't, you sound ridiculous. It's not like they're hurting anyone. Everyone has different ideas of what they believe is fun and what makes them happy and for some people if it's rainbows and butterflies then they can have their rainbows and butterflies. It's not like they're disrupting their life or anyone else's because for all of the tabloid articles and snide comments I've heard there is no evidence that this woman is actually crazy. She's never hurt anyone, tried to hurt herself, she maintains her own home, she obviously pays her taxes and bills otherwise the public would know about it in a heartbeat because that information is readily available and TMZ loves to spread it all around about whose gone broke or owes back taxes.
And because I'm sure you're the same person who left that other comment about her willing to publicize anything. She sent this picture out on twitter to the fans that follow her, the same with Pink who did a self portrait of her and her belly and sent it out to her fans because she knew they wanted to see it. And as for "dem babies" it's just a way of saying them, no big deal plenty of people say the word them as if their is a d instead of a th, it's sort of slang or ebonics. It's no big deal.
I would think good for her. Who are you to judge what a person should or shouldn't like. Butterflies symbolize something that means alot to her.

well the butterfly thing is cute in some ways, but the bottom line is that mariah is obsessed with staying youthful and its weird at times. i mean she doesnt even want to acknowledge her birthday, she calls them anniversaries. when asked about turning 40 a couple years back, she says dont say the f-word. and yes it was in a joke, and yes,we all worry about growing older, but to me her fascination with butterflies and rainbows and fairy dust is all in an attempt to ignore growing older and living in a fantasy world. again, im not saying its a bad thing, but there does come a point where you need to embrace your age and be okay with it. yes the babies will certainly love all the butterfly stuff and im not hating on mariah, i think she is cool. i just think she over-does it sometimes.
No offense, cuz I can tell you're not trying to be mean, but plenty of women ignore their actual age. And for some it's not about being vain, it's about not being trapped within the restrictions of age, and instead acknowledging the age you feel. Which Mariah has explained before, for her she doesn't feel 40, and doesn't like the fact that alot of people still think that when a woman turns 40 she might as well break out the walking cane, so she doesn't acknowledge 40. Everyone's feelings and how they deal with age is different, and if they don't want to acknowledge the number they don't have to. Besides I'm pretty sure they're reminded of their age whenever they go to the doctors and have to put their age on the forms.

yes she is pregnant with the twins she isn't vain enough to fake a pregnancy. and her and Nick will be the ones raising them as they have said so many times. the term is a term of endearment like calling someone sweetheart or honey. if you don't like her don't click on the artical and take the time to leave a comment. she did this too take her mind off the fact that earlier that day the twins had to have a steroid shot to mature their lungs so that when her doctors got the labor undercontrol she could go home
I've never understood why people don't understand that. If you don't like the person than don't click instead of leaving nasty messages. I'm not saying you have to kiss anyone's ass, or have to like them, but if all you're going to spew is negativity please move on. And get a life instead of sitting out in the sun so long that your brain is wrecked, and you're making up stories about how someone is not carrying their own child. Lord help them all, first DVB genetically engineered a girl and now Mariah's taking pictures of her surrogate's stomach. no matter where i go, there are ALWAYS people (women mainly) saying that mariah needs to act her age. i love that mariah has that youthfulness about her! ill be the same when im her age!i will NEVER let people dictate to me whats "appropriate" and whats not just because im not 20 anymore and i actually feel sorry for people that care THAT much about what society says! i love how mariah doesnt give a DAMN about how people THINK she should dress and act and does what feels good to HER instead! to all the haters-you do NOT validate mariahs existance! shes a multi-millionaire and if she wants to be surrounded by butterflies, hello kitty and the color pink, she most certainly will! you should know by now that commenting about how she should do this and do that is of absolutely NO importance to her! mariah is gonna be a girly girl until the day she dies!
