Céline Dion On Balancing Parenthood & Performing

Céline Dion returned to the stage just five months after giving birth to fraternal twins, Eddy and Nelson. But despite having juggled parenthood and a thriving singing career for years with her oldest son, René Charles, 10, the Grammy award-winning mom-of-three admits that leaving her family hasn’t gotten any easier.

“It is very intense so I try to get here as late as possible and get home as quick as I can,” Dion, 43, tells ET Canada. “The first thing before I start a show, I think of my kids and always say, ‘This one’s for you guys.’”

Fortunately, with a grueling performance schedule at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Céline has some capable hands at home to help her manage the three boys.

In addition to hubby René Angélil, Dion’s sister has moved in with the family to lend her assistance anytime, day or night.

“She takes the kids during the night so, in between the feeds, I sleep,” Céline shares. “So I feed Nelson then she comes back and takes Nelson [and] brings me Eddy. Two breasts, two babies, that’s fine – there’s only so much that you can do.”

Céline’s Las Vegas show is set to run for three years. Though the almost daily performances don’t allow her to spend as much time with her children as she’d like, Dion’s family is never too far away. Her concert includes a montage of home videos of her husband and sons.

I saw “A New Day” the last time I was down in Vegas and I have to say – she is one of the best performers out there today. If you aren’t a fan walking in, you will be walking out.

‘This one’s for you guys’, wow, what a statement, addressed to two tiny babies… All that could interest them, is mommy (and daddy) around them, as much as possible. Not success in Vegas. Rather not!

I personally cannot understand why a woman who has it all, and who wanted these babies so bad, continues with a ‘grueling’ schedule. Doesn’t she already had enough success, fame and money…?

She didn’t do it for the money. She did it for the fans like myself. Plus Vegas is stability. She would rather do this instead of touring all over the world every day. Not to mention she’s only performing in Vegas when her Rene Charles (RC) usually has breaks from school, i.e. summer, winter , spring etc. The most he’s missing from school is 4 weeks or 5. When they’re not in Florida he uses Skype to get in touch with his classes.
