Elton John & David Furnish's Son Drinks FedExed Breastmilk

Talk about a special delivery! During a recent interview with Barbara Walters, Sir Elton John revealed that the biological mother of he and David Furnish’s 4-month-old son, Zachary, has been sending pumped breastmilk to the family via courier.

“The baby’s been brought up in Los Angeles for the first four months so we’ve had the breastmilk FedExed from where she is to Los Angeles every day,” explains the proud new daddy, adding that his son’s surrogate will always be involved in his upbringing. “She and her family will still be a part of our lives growing up.”

The couple, who welcomed their son on Christmas Day, admitted that his holiday birth ended up being the key to keeping their news a secret, at least for a while: “It was actually ideal in terms of a secrecy standpoint as well because when we walked into the maternity ward at Cedars-Sinai, it was empty,” said David. “There was nobody there.”

“Nobody wants to have a Christmas baby,” added Elton. “People want to have them early or they have them induced or they have a Caesarean, so from a secrecy point of view, it worked in our favour so well.”

David also dropped a hint about whether or not we can expect their little family to grow in the future:

“We’re talking about it, but we haven’t made up our minds yet. It’s not an impossibility.”

Elton and David used an egg donor separate from the surrogate mother. The biological mother is actually the egg donor, not the surrogate who only carried the baby for them. The surrogate is the one supplying the milk
