In her new memoir A Helluva High Note former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi writes that her decision to leave the hit show was fueled in part by her desire to start a family. Sharing her difficult struggle to conceive, Kara reveals that she had “undergone three unsuccessful rounds of IVF during Season 9.”
At a book signing this week the 40-year-old songwriter talked to Access Hollywood about her pregnancy hopes, saying, “I’d like to have a baby. I’m trying to work that one out. I don’t know, I’ve been having a lot of sex, but it’s not working! I’d like to succeed at that, if my damn body would get with the program.”
Kara may not be behind the judges’ table on American Idol this year, but she’s still got a very full plate. In addition to her new book, she has a new Bravo series titled Platinum Hit premiering next month.
She and her husband Mike McCuddy have been married since 2009.
