After a recommendation from Child Protective Services, an Indiana judge awarded the child’s father, Gary Shirley, sole custody. But the decision had nothing to do with either party’s parenting abilities.
Due to the recent vandalism of Amber’s home and car, both CPS and the judge determined that Shirley’s home was a safer environment for the couple’s daughter, deeming Portwood’s living situation unsuitable. Reportedly, Amber agreed.
The 20-year-old mom will maintain visitation rights, which have yet to be negotiated, and may regain primary custody in the near future.
