Britney Spears: "Now That I'm A Mom, Things Have Changed"

Pop star Britney Spears graces the cover of Harper’s Bazaar, on newsstands May 31. In the interview, the mom-of-two boys – Sean Preston, 5, and Jayden James, 4 – opens up about her career, preparing for her upcoming tour and motherhood.

On how being a mom affects her career: “I think things through a little bit more, and I worry a lot. I’m more straightforward, and I speak up more than I did before. When I was younger, I wouldn’t speak up as much, but now that I’m a mom, things have changed.”

On getting married again and more kids: “I’ve thought about both, so if the timing was right…”

On if she could see her sons performing: “If they have a love and passion for the arts and that’s what they want to do, then so be it. They are both little actors and so charismatic, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.”

On her perfect day: “Getting up with coffee–two cups of coffee. Having a good workout, taking a swim, my boys being there and just having a good day at the pool–we have a theme-park slide. We’d have snow cones, then I’d go to the movies and spend time with my boyfriend. Maybe a Femme Fatale moment [laughs].”

On what people don’t know about her: “I’m pretty normal, you know? Like I said, the type of day I love is just like everybody else’s. I’m like everybody else.”

Its amazing how she was able to bounce back and get her life straightened out. I know she still has some hurdles to overcome but the fact that she initially recognized the need for help, and did not allow her ego (aka Charlie sheen) to take precedence over what was best for her sons at a difficult time in her life, shows her true character.

She actually wasn’t the one who initially recognized she needed help – it was her father who fought for and (luckily) won conservatorship.

Ok I guess I misunderstood. Well the main point is that she has gotten better regardless of who is responsible for the initial action. Thanks for the details.

True, it was her father at first but you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help. Even under a conservatorship. They make sure people stay away from her, but they can’t make her live a decent life if she didn’t want to. She didn’t have to start being a better mom and reaching out to her family and friends she had cut out. People give her too little credit for turning her life around.

Actually she gave up custody of the boys under her own volition. The conservatorship had to do with finances. Judges are very hard pressed to remove a child from a mothers care even if there is just cause. Tara is right here, she did put the kids needs first before herself.

The conservatorship had to do with finances and personal responsibility and it began many months before she relinquished custody. So while she should be applauded for thinking of her children, it was her parents who really started her life back in order. Without them she would still be hanging out with losers like Adnan Ghalib and Sam Lufti.

Actually, there are two conservatorships over her. One which over-sees all of her business affairs and anything with her finances and another which covers Britney as a person, which includes custody of her children.
