Christina Applegate Gets Back To Work

New mom Christina Applegate is headed back to the small screen, having signed on to a new NBC comedy called ‘Up All Night.’ Co-starring two of our other favorite funny parents – Will Arnett, who has boys Archie and Abel with his wife Amy Poehler, and Maya Rudolph, who’s expecting baby #3 – the show centers around a theme they all know well.

“It’s basically who we are anyway,” says Christina, who stars as a PR exec married to her stay-at-home-dad hubby, played by Will. “[It’s about] being a parent and [balancing] work, and, all of us. It’s kind of us.”

Having welcomed her adorable daughter Sadie Grace earlier this year, Christina tells Access Hollywood that it’s time for her to get back to work.

“I don’t think I was ready at the time, but I will be ready,” she says, adding of motherhood, “It’s excellent… Amazing. We don’t have anybody with helping, which we will soon.”

Her hands-on approach to parenting impresses her co-star Maya: “She’s a wonder woman,” she praises .

“I’m tired,” Christina admits. “But she’s magical!”

I am one of Christina’s biggest fans for many reasons. I did not like her when she was younger but the manner with which she has conducted herself these past couple years is admirable. It’s great that she has been being a mommy “without any help”. But the last comment by Maya Rudolph put me off a bit. If taking care of a child without any help is equivalent to being wonder woman- then about 90% of the moms out there are SUPERHEROES;).

Best of luck anyway Christina- you deserve loads of blessings.

Agree, why is it considered anything other than your duty to take care of your child? We give out “awards” for the stupidest of reasons anymore.

I dunno. I don’t think the comment is insulting — I think all moms* are wonder women. I don’t know how all you guys do it!

*Excluding, of course, Casey Anthony and her ilk.
