“Nothing could be greater than going to hit up the Malibu house,” Patrick Shriver, 17, tweeted on Saturday (May 28) before heading to the beach for a much needed vacay with his siblings and mother, Maria Shriver.
Though the family has certainly been through a lot since news of dad Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s affair and lovechild rocked their parents’ marriage and took the media by storm, the children, led by their mother’s example, reminded fans & followers that there are many other families who deserve that attention, and sacrifice so much for the sake of our freedom.
“This weekend, I’m thinking of all who gave their life, and all the families who lost a loved one in service to this great country,” Shriver, 55, tweeted on Sunday (May 29). “You have our deepest gratitude and respect. God bless.”
The former first lady of California followed that tweet with some advice she received from one of her children.
“My daughter once gave me a great Plato quote that said, ‘Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle,’” Maria tweeted Monday (May 30), adding, “We don’t know what is going on inside of most people.
On this #MemorialDay, when so many are grieving in obscurity or silence, let’s keep that in mind. Be kind so many people are grieving.”
