David & Victoria Beckham Donate Baby Gifts

David & Victoria Beckham Donate Baby Gifts

Global media magnet Victoria Beckham is receiving too many posh gifts for her adorable newborn daughter, Harper Seven.

The gorgeous mother-of-four, according to close personal sources, is being lavishly inundated with luxurious baby gifts from solicitors hoping to become associated with the famous family. However, Victoria, 37 and her hunky husband David Beckham, 36, are either returning the goods or generously donating their bounty to charities near their Beverly Hills home.

The Daily Mail reports that a friend of the dynamic duo said: "David and Victoria have a policy that they don’t accept gifts and endeavour to return anything that is sent to them. If anyone contacts the office in Los Angeles, they’re told that – but often they send things anyway or they send presents without a return address."

So if you live in the Los Angeles area and receive an anonymous baby gift in the mail, it could be the Beckhams that you have to thank!

They have a policy not to accept gifts? seems a lil rude, although i am glad they are at least donating what cannot be returned.

I guess it's gift from brands or people they don't know. I can't understand that ;)

i am sure they accept gifts, but in the article it says from strangers just wanting to get famous. Would you want to keep something that you don't know where its been . When they send it to charities and donation centres they get check throughly before be handed out so its safe. Plus she had a baby shower she has loads of stuff already

Maybe it's more of a policy against receiving gifts from solicitors rather than friends and family??

I don't think it means they don't accept all gifts, just ones sent to them from companies with ulterior motives like advertising or association.
For example. If their friend gave them a gift I'm sure they'd gladly accept it.

It's really nice that they're giving the gifts to other families in the area.

I'm sure they accept gifts from legitimate friends. Companies ply them with stuff so they can say that their product is a favourite of Victoria Beckham -- as we see on this site constantly with other celebrities. Kudos to Victoria for giving to charity though.

Bravo and well done Beckhams! I applaud them for donating the items they don't need or want. Companies flood high profile celebrities with merchandise in order to get free publicity for their products. Nothing wrong with that at all, it is one of the perks of being famous. I applaud the celebs that realize their power and pay it forward to those that could really use it.
Rosie O'Donnell was, and is, the master of celebrity re gifting. She is so gracious to her fans. It was Rosie O'Donnell that started the free gifts for studio audiences. Coming from a middle class upbringing and after reaching net worth of over 100 million dollars, Rosie had trouble accepting all the free stuff that companies were trying to give her in order to promote on her show. She felt uncomfortable because she was extremely wealthy and had no need for all the free stuff. So, Rosie said -- instead of giving me one item for myself, give me enough for every person in my audience to take home and I will promote your product on my show. That's how it began. Oprah Winfrey and others followed a few years later.
I imagine a lot of celebrities have experienced free baby merchandise. I love to hear about the ones that donate their loot. I think I read a similar article about Jennifer Garner donating excess baby gifts back when she gave birth to Violet. Nice.

It makes complete sense. For example lets just say (taken add from side bar) ruffle butts sends Victoria a gift. Well when Harper is out and about in that outfit ruffle butts could earn themselves a huge profit bc everyone will want what this baby is wearing for their own baby! So it's not that the Beckhams don't accept gifts its just that htey probably don't want their daughter to be a walking advertisment for clothing and accessories. Which means that they will use products and dress their daughter in things that will get attention but they'll do it with their own money and what they feel she should wear not what others feel she should be wearing. Make sense? :)

They keep the items they want and donate the rest. It's more about the volume they receive. What are they supposed to do with 2 dozen strollers and high chairs and car seats?
