Danish Prince Joachim and his French-born wife, Princess Marie, are expecting their second child, the royal court confirmed on Wednesday.
“Their royal highnesses Prince Joachim and Princess Marie have the pleasure of announcing that Princess Marie is pregnant,” the royal court stated, adding, “The birth is expected to take place at the national Rigshospitalet hospital at the end of January 2012.”
This will be the couple’s second, following 2-year-old Prince Henrik.
Prince Joachim – the second son of Queen Margrethe and Prince Consort Henrik – is sixth in line to the Danish throne after his elder brother Crown Prince Frederik and his four children with Australian-born Crown Princess Mary.
Joachim, who has two older children from his previous marriage to Hong-Kong-born Duchess Alexandra, the princes Felix and Nikolai, wed Marie on May 24, 2008.
Congratulations to the royal couple!
