Sarah Michelle Gellar: Charlotte Loves Healthy Food

Sarah Michelle Gellar, the ever-versatile actress, wife and working mom, sat down with Health to talk about how she kept healthy during her pregnancy (to 2 year-old Charlotte) and how she continues to keep up her routine both off and on set for her new CW show Ringer.

On raising her daughter to have a healthy outlook: “We’ve already taught her to love healthy food. We took her to sushi on Saturday night, and everybody couldn’t believe what she inhaled. I think it’s important at a young age to enjoy different tastes. And we make this green juice for her. It’s basically everything but the kitchen sink. We go to the farmers’ market and buy everything and just put it in the juicer: kale, Swiss chard, carrots, celery. You name it. And now we’ve all started drinking it, and we’ve all been healthier.”

On going into labor: “I went into labor at the Pilates gym. And it was funny, too, because I was getting cranky, and I said to my trainer, “I’m just cranky today.” She was like, “Maybe it’s because you’re going to give birth!” And I was like, “Nah, not yet.” It turned out I was in labor, I didn’t realize.”

On her insecurities: “I totally have body dysmorphic disorder. I think most women do…I just have to remember that I’m human, and I’m a mom. Being a parent changes the vanity at least a little bit.”

In the interview, I was surprised to read that she has “major scoliosis”. Based on her posture, there is no way I would have guessed that.

The interview is worth checking out – for the most part, the questions are relevant and appropriate except for the part about Kate Middleton. WTF??? Of all the ways to go off-topic…lame. VERY lame.

I don’t know if it’s just a weird scan, but the cover photo looks like some sort of mixture between SMG and Ashlee Simpson. Strange.

I like SMG, though. Buffy fan.

Should 2 yrs old’s be eating sushi? I thought not for the same reason pregnant women should avoid but am not sure. In any case I love SMG and family!

There’s different kinds of sushi. May she only had the veggie sushi. I can’t stand raw fish and really any sea food, but I love the sushi with just veggies, seaweed and rice??
