Elisabeth Röhm: "Literacy Opens A World Of True Freedom & Joy"

As a parent, actress Elisabeth Röhm is a strong supporter of literacy programs! The Law & Order star has been an active participant in Gymboree Play & Music for the past three years. Also during that time, Gymboree Play & Music has partnered with the early education organization, Jumpstart, for their annual record breaking day of reading, Jumpstart’s Read for the Record. On this day, millions of parents, volunteers and children read the same book – setting a world reading record while raising awareness for the importance of early education.

Elisabeth and others who read last week joined the ranks of past celebrity participants including Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Bill Cosby, Vince Vaughn and this year’s 2011 Ambassador for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, actress Bridget Moynahan.

Last Thursday (October 6) was Jumpstart’s Read for the Record and hundreds of events and “pajama parties” took place all across the country to make this year’s official campaign book Llama Llama Red Pajama come alive for children. At Gymboree Play & Music in Los Angeles, Elisabeth read the book to children during ‘story time’ and participated in fun games and book-themed activities with her 3-year-old daughter Easton.

Elisabeth is a huge supporter of Gymboree and Jumpstart and their work helping children and families discover the joy of reading and learning together. The mom-of-one opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the importance of literacy.

Literacy opens a world of true freedom and joy. Easton and I love sharing in that pursuit with Gymboree Play & Music!”
