It’s a girl for Viola Davis and her husband Julian Tennon! Just two months after announcing her plans to adopt, the star of The Help is now mom to a baby girl named Genesis.
The happy news came courtesy not of Viola herself, but of her friend Octavia Spencer. During a speech honoring Viola, 46, at last night’s ELLE Women in Hollywood event in Los Angeles, Octavia gushed that the star had become a mom “like, two days ago.”
Viola later confirmed the announcement, revealing that her new daughter’s name is Genesis.
The couple revealed their adoption plans at August’s Beverly Hills premiere of The Help: “We don’t have any children [together], but we’re about to adopt a baby,” Julian said at the time.
Congratulations to them on their new addition!
