She’s only one week old, but Giulia Bruni-Sarkozy‘s already got some serious swag!
Since her birth, foreign dignitaries have been showering French president Nicolas Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy‘s little one with gifts, sparing no expense to welcome the couple’s first daughter – and the country’s first baby – into the world.
From her Steiff Schlaf-Gut-Bar (an 11-inch-tall “Sleep-Well-Bear” dressed in a striped blue onesie) from German chancellor Angela Merkel to the pink Witney blanket offered by British Prime Minister David Cameron, the gifts have been rolling in to Elysé es Palace all week, though according to sources, Morocco’s King Mohamed VI sent a large basket of white orchids to the hospital when Giulia was born.
The only sitting first lady in the country’s history to give birth, Bruni-Sarkozy has said that she will keep her child’s pictures out of the press:
I will do everything to protect this infant, and I’ll be absolutely rigorous,” the first lady vowed. “I will never show photos of this child. I will never expose this child.”
