Celebrity Parents Share Their Halloween Plans

We can’t get enough of the Halloween season! And neither can some of our favorite celebrity parents.

Celebrity Baby Scoop sat down with Mayim Bialik of The Big Bang Theory and heard about the fine art of “recycling [her boys'] costumes.” New dad Ian Ziering has a special day planned for baby Mia’s first Halloween, while CSI: Miami star Eva LaRue opened up about their expected “3,000 trick-or-treaters.” And new mom Tia Mowry said she’s “so excited” to celebrate with her lil’ pumpkin.

Continue reading about how some of our fav celeb parents – including The Guncles, Kendra Wilkinson, and Candace Cameron Bure – plan to celebrate Halloween.

  • Mayim Bialik
The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik is mom to sons Miles, 6, and 3-year-old Frederick.

CBS: What is your most creative Halloween costume?

Mayim: “Our boys are still pretty young (Fred is 3 and Miles is 6) and since we celebrate Purim (Judaism’s dress-up holiday that comes in the spring), we get to dress up twice a year! This year we are recycling the costumes I made this past Purim: me as Wonder Woman, Fred as Batman, and my husband as boy wonder Robin! Miles is branching out and wants to be a werewolf, but other than that, recycling costumes is the most creative thing I can think of!”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Mayim: “We do a fair in our homeschool community and the boys went on a hayride today with my husband; on actual Halloween, we stay home, carve pumpkins, eat roasted pumpkin seeds and my homemade vegan chocolate toffee bark, and go to sleep early, as usual.”

  • Eva LaRue
National spokesperson for Beckstrand Cancer Foundation and CSI: Miami star Eva LaRue is mom to daughter Kaya, 9.

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Eva: “This year we are having a bunch of friends and family over to our house. We live in a gated community and the whole neighborhood goes all-out crazy! We get about 3,000 trick-or-treaters. We decorate our front yard with cobwebs, coffins, dry ice to make fog and we all dress up really scary and spooky! We LOVE Halloween at our house!”

  • Kendra Wilkinson
Reality TV star Kendra Wilkinson is mom to son Hank IV, who turns 2 in December.

CBS: What is your most creative Halloween costume?

Kendra: “When the costume didn’t arrive in time, [I] dressed up like a ’70s girls with a huge afro, mini skirt, etc.”

CBS: What are your Halloween plans this year?

Kendra: “[We] are going trick-or-treating with a group of friends and their kids in LA. [We're] going to be dressing in a ’70s theme.”

And although their sweet tot is about to turn 2, Kendra tells us this will be baby Hank’s first Halloween as they didn’t celebrate last year.

  • Ian Ziering
Beverly Hills, 90210 star Ian Ziering and wife Erin are parents to 6-month-old daughter Mia.

CBS: What are your Halloween plans this year?

Ian & Erin: “Our plans for Halloween is to visit with our neighbors, put Mia to bed by her bedtime (7pm) and have some mommy/daddy time over dinner in the kitchen. [Her costume is ] a fairy.”

  • Alicia Minshew
Kendall Hart on All My Children Alicia Minshew is mom to daughter Willow, who turns 2 next month.

CBS: What is your most creative Halloween costume?

Alicia: “Being that my daughter Willow is about to turn two, we have only done one costume with her. Last year she was a ladybug. And I tied the antennas together because that is the only way they stayed on her head! Creative?…not sure!”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Alicia: “This year she will be Tinkerbell (got a purple fairy outfit as a back up). She loves wings! We are going to a friend’s little kiddie costume party and then another little gathering. She is a busy girl!”

  • Samantha Harris
Entertainment Tonight correspondent Samantha Harris is mom to daughters Josselyn, 4, and Hillary, 9 months.

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Samantha: “One year I couldn’t think of anything, so I went through my closet and found an old red hooded sweatshirt. Then, I cut it up to make it into a red hooded cape, found some accessories and a basket and went as Little Red Riding Hood!”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Samantha: “It’s the baby’s first Halloween, so we’re decorating the house with the items from the pumpkin patch, going to a Halloween carnival and then some neighborhood trick-or-treating.”

  • Candace Cameron Bure
Make It or Break It star Candace Cameron Bure is mom to daughter Natasha, 13, and sons Lev, 11, and Maks, 9.

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Candace: “I went as an African American ’60s go-go dancer! The body makeup took a long time and the huge afro rocked. No one at the party recognized me, not even my closest friends. It was pretty sweet.”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Candace: “My kids still like to trick-or-treat, so we’ll be cruising our neighborhood with family and friends. My boys Maks and Lev are going as Captain Jack and Captain America and my daughter Natasha will put something crazy together from her closet and trunk full of old costumes. I usually wear a wig of some sorts and got the “Mad Hatter” from the Disney Store. I’m sure I’ll be tweeting Halloween pictures!”

  • The Guncles
Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood stars Bill Horn and Scout Masterson of ‘The Guncles‘ are dads to daughter Simone, 1.

CBS: What are your Halloween plans this year?

The Guncles: “Halloween is serious business at the Masterson-Horn house! Last year was Simone’s first Halloween, and we started a tradition of coordinating our costumes. She sported 3 different outfits, our favorite being a pea in the pod. We placed her (gently) into a big pot with fresh vegetables, and then the Dads dressed up as chefs. Slightly twisted? You bet! So this year she will also have three Halloween costumes – a new one for each event. First, she’ll be an M&M for her school parade. Then this weekend, she’s going as Little Bo Peep and we’ll be her sheep. And then on Monday afternoon for trick-or-treating, she’ll be baby chick and we’ll be farmers. Very excited!”

  • Alysia Reiner
Sideways star Alysia Reiner is mom to daughter Livia, nearly 3.

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Alysia: “One of my fav years of Halloween was my first Halloween as a married babe, and we went as wedding returns. I was a 12″ Tiffany vase & David was a crystal cut bowl. We wrapped ourselves in bubble wrap & went to Fed-Ex and UPS & post office and got a ton of shipping labels & covered ourselves with them. Made a ton of people laugh in that knowing way, and was the easiest costume I ever created!”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Alysia: “In between performing one play, rehearsing another (TRUE ART), and promoting my film Speed Grieving (now available on DVD at SpeedGrieving.org), I’m running to our Halloween block party between! We have an awesome community of moms on our block, I love them so much. It’s such an amazing feeling having a real community in Harlem – I thought that was only possible in the ‘burbs, but you can catch me walking down my street with a casserole dish to a fellow mom’s house. And Sundays from 4-6 we do playdates (with dinner for kiddos & vino for the moms & dads).”

  • Marissa Jaret Winokur
Retired at 35 star Marissa Jaret Winokur is mom to son Zev, 3.

CBS: What will Zev be for Halloween this year?

Marissa: “Halloween is everyday in our house because my son loves costumes and candy! But this year, at first he wanted to be a policeman so I went out and bought that costume. Then one day we went to the store together and he became completely obsessed with the UPS man. So he asked me to get that costume for him. We went to the store and it was the cheapest costume they had! At first the clerk wasn’t even sure if they had that costume. He said, ‘Nobody wants to be the UPS man!’ But we found it and the only size it came in was Zev’s size.

Zev puts that costume on every day, all day! He literally thinks he’s the UPS man. He collects shoe boxes and goes outside the door, rings the doorbell and says, ‘I’ve got a package!’ And then he says, ‘Open it!’ Or else he’ll make me go into my bedroom and he’ll ring the doorbell and pretend that nobody is home. He’ll leave the package outside the door and he’ll have the whole routine down pat. He’s so imaginative, but it drives me crazy! He’ll say, ‘Open the door mom, and say “Oh there’s a package here. Who left it?”‘ And then I’ll go outside and say, ‘Oh there’s a package!’ And he’ll say, ‘No, I said say, “Oh there’s a package here. Who left it?”‘ He is up at 5 a.m. and he’s like, ‘Is it morning time? Do we get to play UPS again?’”

CBS: Are you going out trick-or-treating?

Marissa: “Yes, and I’ve made a box with a slit in it for him to put the candy inside the box. He wants us to be the packages. So if we can get our act together, my husband and I will do that. Zev said, ‘I want you to be really big packages that I have to deliver.’ I’m going to be sticking my feet through a really big box! Everybody else gets to wear sexy Halloween costumes. I’m going to have a big box around my boobs and belly! I will not be the sexy box! There will be the sexy cat mom and the mom in the sexy tiger costume. But I’ll be in a big box! We live on a cul-de-sac where it’s really easy to go trick-or-treating so it’ll be a lot of fun.”

  • Maria Canals-Barrera
Wizards of Waverly Place star Maria Canals-Barrera is mom to daughters Bridget and Madeleine.

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Maria: “My most creative costume was my ever-evolving Genie one. I was about 9 years old and my grandma (who was a seamstress) made it. Every year we’d find even better accessories to make it more beautiful! Better beads to hang from the waist, more shimmery material for my veil, new sequins for my headpiece. I wore that costume for 3 years. Each time, it was new and improved.”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween?

Maria: “This year my family and I will trick-or-treat around our wonderful neighborhood with our two girls and some friends. We did the pumpkin patch last weekend and I baked three pies from scratch! Made with real fresh pumpkin, not from a can. They were delicious! Our girls LOVE handing out candy almost as much as trick-or-treating, so we’ll do that first.”

  • Tia Mowry
Tia and Tamera star Tia Mowry is mom to son Cree, 3 months.

CBS: How will you celebrate baby Cree’s first Halloween?

Tia: “Cree is going to be a fireman! We have the whole outfit. He is even going to rock the hat! Lets see if he keep it on – It is the cutest thing! I was so excited to get his first costume.”

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Tia: “My favorite costume growing up would have to be my angel costume. I wore a halo and wings. It was simple and easy. Also, everyone always seems to be extremely gory and I wanted to be just the opposite.”

  • Wendy Williams
Mom of 11-year-old son Kevin: Wendy Williams of The Wendy Williams Show. Watch for a big Halloween celebration on Monday. Everyone will be in costume; the audience, Wendy and her guest ‘The Situation’!

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Wendy: “It was a DIY [do-it-yourself] in 5th grade. I wore black tights, got a large box from the back of a grocery store and covered it with white construction paper. I put big black circles on it and 3 holes. I was DICE. Haaa!”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Wendy: “We’re going to keep the door closed and lights out. Our son doesn’t trick-or-treat. It’s a Monday, so homework will have to be done.”

  • Alexis Bellino
Real Housewives of Orange County star Alexis Bellino is mom to son James, 4, and 3-year-old twin daughters Melania and Mackenna.

CBS: What was your most creative Halloween costume?

Alexis: “My most creative Halloween costume is this year’s costume! I had major sinus surgery a week ago and I’m still a little black-and-blue, so I’m going as a female boxer and Jim as my trainer!”

CBS: What are your plans for Halloween this year?

Alexis: “This year, on Friday, my kids and I are going to their school Halloween party. On Saturday, we are all going to the 18th Annual Dream Halloween event that benefits Children and Families Affected by HIV/AIDS at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. Jamie Lee Curtis is hosting again this year and Josh Duhamel will be honored — we are all very excited! On Halloween night, we are trick-or-treating in our kids’ friends’ neighborhood! A busy, but fun weekend!”
