Rosie Pope: "This Pregnancy Has Been Really Great"

With baby #3 on the way, life is about to get even busier for designer and maternity maven Rosie Pope. In an exclusive interview with Celebrity Baby Scoop, Rosie dishes on her “really great” pregnancy, talks about the challenge of balancing work and family – and shares a few of her must-have items for moms.

Making time for a great cause, Rosie will be among the star-studded crowd – joining Jessica Seinfeld, Julianne Moore, Hugh Jackman, Naomi Watts and more – on Monday night at Baby Buggy’s 10th Anniversary Gala in New York City. “I want to do everything I can to help,” she says of the organization, which has donated an amazing 5 million baby items to families in need over the past decade. Tickets for the event are still available at BabyBuggy.org.

CBS: Tell us about attending Baby Buggy’s 10th Anniversary Gala. We hear you’re a long term supporter of the organization. Tell us why it’s near and dear to your heart?

RP: “Baby Buggy helps mothers, families and children in need. The fact that they ever have to struggle is a travesty and an organization that tirelessly strives to help make their lives better is invaluable, in my opinion, and I want to do everything I can to help.”

CBS: Who are you looking forward to seeing at the gala?

RP: “Jerry Seinfield! It is such a rare opportunity to see him perform live and such a treat to see him while we celebrate Baby Buggy’s 10th anniversary.”

CBS: Congratulations on your pregnancy! How have you been feeling? Has this pregnancy been different from your previous ones?

RP: “Thank you! With my first two [JR, 3, and Wellington, 9 months], I kind of indulged. I took naps and ate ice cream but with the third I have been so busy that I sometimes forget I am even pregnant – but at the end of the day I always make time to eat my ice cream. The baby should start kicking soon so he will be reminding me more often. It’s really been great.”

CBS: How are you preparing for having a third in terms of juggling and balancing it all; career, family, life?

RP: “That’s a good question! I am just so lucky to have a great support system. My mother in law and my husband are absolutely invaluable. It’s really figuring out how to make it all together and it isn’t always easy with hectic schedules. I am very fortunate that my husband and I work together so we can adjust our schedules to make sure one of us is always there for the kids. I always joke that we are like a traveling circus sometimes!”

CBS: What advice do you have for parents with three kids under the age of five, ready to pull their hair out?

RP: “I know it sounds cheesy but I think you really have to try and stop and appreciate the moment and remember that it’s not always going to be crazy. Maybe not everyone has a bath every night or if they stay in their PJs all day on a Saturday – don’t beat yourself about it. It really is amazing to watch them grow and you don’t want to look back and feel like you missed it. One of my favorite sayings is – don’t let perfection get in the way of good intentions. Let go of the OCD and enjoy it!”

CBS: What are some of your favorite mommy moments or memories?

RP: “Actually today my older son said to me: “Mommy, I want to tell you something… I love you, I love baby Wells and I love myself.” It just warmed my heart and is something I will remember forever.”

CBS: We love your maternity line! Do you have any favorite pieces for the holidays?

RP: “My favorite occasion dress is definitely the Onassis in ivory. It is very smart and it has an old Hollywood feel so you feel glamorous and chic. The ponte fabric is great because it stretches as you grow so it is a great piece to wear throughout your pregnancy.”

CBS: What are your holiday plans this year?

RP: “My father and step-mom are coming in and we are going to have a traditional English family Christmas. That means Turkey!”

CBS: What your favorite must haves for hopeful and new moms?

RP: “Medela Quick Steam Clean Bags – for quick cleaning and heating without having to boil a pot of water
Aden and Anais Swaddle Cloths – Swaddle Cloths have always been an essential but these are breathable, soft and are the perfect size so can use for a multitude of uses. The organic line is great and the prints are so adorable, any fashionista mom will love them. I even sell these in the store I love them so much!
Sara Happ Lip Scrub – it is such an easy beauty product and there is something about it that just makes you feel so pampered.
Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor – It’s hard to make time for you and your husband so this takes the guess work out of when you are the most fertile so you can make the most of it!”
