America's Supernanny Helps Family Of Six

This Tuesday (December 6) don’t miss Lifetime’s newest series, America’s Supernanny, starring childcare expert Deborah Tillman. This episode features lesbian couple Amy Paul and Mandy Sheckles of Camby, IN and their children Amanda, 9, Bradley, 7, and 2 ½ year-old quadruplets Tillie, Kerry, Harper, and Kennedy. Watch as Deborah helps Mandy and Amy gain control of their quadruplets while their two older children compete for their attention.

The Virginia-based wife, mother and author, who boasts more than 19 years experience in early childhood education opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about working with the busy Sheckles-Paul family.

CBS: How did you help theSheckles-Paul family find some peace in their busy/big household? Are they able to spend some quality one-on-one time with each child? If so, has this helped the family equilibrium?

DT: “There were several techniques that I put in place. However, two techniques were extremely instrumental in handling the big and busy Sheckles-Paul household. First, I structured the environment for the quads by organizing a room in their house as a daycare center. By creating a school like environment, it creates an opportunity to get into the ‘child’s world’ by providing structure and a daily routine that will help stimulate and regulate children as they grow in cognitive, social/emotional, fine motor, language and literacy, dramatic play, music and movement and creative activities.

Secondly, it was possible to spend quality one on one time with the children particularly during the time spent in the daycare. As the children moved from one activity to another Amy was able to have the freedom to roam and interact with all the quads. Bedtime for the quads should be at 8:00 p.m. each night which leaves time for Amanda and Bradley to spend one on one time with Amy and Mandy.”

It creeps me out how much she looks like Michelle Obama. Is that on purpose?

You must be blind. She looks nothing like Michelle Obama and Black people don’t look alike so get over your racial hint.

I thought the same thing when I saw her. Michelle Obama.

My wife said she looked like Michelle Obama. It’s not racist to say someone of one race looks like another of that race. It’s racist to say they look like someone of that race SO I HATE THEM. Get over your faux-racist bullshit.

its nice to see lifetime is unafraid to give lesbians some airtime! Gay couples struggle jus as much as the straight ones…and its great to see them portrayed as a “real” family! :)

this woman has never been a nanny, she runs daycares, and a child should not have to feel like they are in daycare every day of their life, and the kids have names, not just “the quads” we want JO

OH get over it. She’s a mother and Jo Frost was not so change channels if you don’t like her.

    • amanda

THANK-YOU!!!My thoughts exactly!Amy Paul is like my best friend and they don’t use half the stupid methods she taught.Jo would have been so much better for them.

Yey for America’s super nanny. About time to have a real parent who understands. A nanny is not a parent.

Ms Tillman is a lovely person but after watching her first show Dec 6, I feel she
lacks knowledge about toddlers. My heart broke for the 2 1/2 year olds being
punished for acting their age. They truly did not understand why they had to
sit in the corner & only relented when they were exhausted. More harm was done to these little ones . This is NOT how you treat or raise children with all due respect.

I really wanted to like this show. This nanny shows no empathy or warmth toward kids or parents. Her whole agenda seems to be about showing how “right” she is. She kept repeating how”they’ve had no discipline for 2 and a half years. Does a 3 month old need discipline?? I agree with Mandy- this nanny took the fun out of them all. Geez- seems like if you have quads plus two, you have to try to find the laughter in the chaos.

What a crazy comment to make about someone not being a parent???? Would you say that about a teacher or peditrician. Some nannies are actually pretty educated. We also know to work with parents and not to put them down. We get that they want help and advice and can be polite about how we go about helping them. We also know that putting toddlers in timeout is insane for that length of time. — No she’s not an expert or representative of me at all.
