Michael Douglas may have a lot to celebrate this holiday season, but his son’s recent prison term add-on surely isn’t one of them.
Cameron Douglas – the troubled son of Michael & his ex-wife Deandra Douglas – is currently serving a 5 year federal prison term when he was sentenced in April for possession and dealing methamphetamine and cocaine. However, his sentence has since been extended when it was discovered that he was in possession of drugs behind bars.
Earlier in the week, he apparently wrote a letter to the judge explaining that he was “saturated in my own shame and penitence,” and begged for “the opportunity to build myself and gain the tools I need to shape my future.”
“I feel so strongly, for the first time in my life, that I am truly ripe for positive reform and real achievement,” he stated in his Manhattan federal court filing.
Cameron also noted that he has “been battling this disease of addiction, as you know, for more than half of my life.”
