Guiliana Rancic On Babies After Double Mastectomy: "There Is Really No Plan Yet"

In mid October of 2011, E! News host Giuliana Rancic shocked the nation when she announced that she had been diagnosed with early stage stage breast cancer. After undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery in December, Guiliana is fighting to recover. Although the 37-year-old reality star may be slowing things down, she reveals that she and entrepreneur hubby Bill Rancic can't wait to start trying for a baby again.

"There is really no plan yet," Guiliana tells HollywoodLife.com. “The main thing is recover and the doctors see how long it takes you. The last thing you want to do is get pregnant right now. You’re really in no shape to do that.”

Timing their "trying" is a key issue for the cute couple who wed back in September 2007.

“As soon as I feel back to my old self again and once we get over this,” she shares. “We’re not done trying and we want kids. We’re not getting younger. As soon as we’ve recovered from this and I feel healthy enough to move on and our doctor says it’s OK to get pregnant, we certainly will.”

“One marathon at a time,” Bill adds in support.

For now, Giuliana is focusing on her recovery.

“Day by day I get stronger. Now I can open the car by myself. [But] you really take for granted the little things in your life like brushing your teeth or putting a dress on. I could never have gotten through this without Bill.”

“Attitude is what got me to heal so quickly, having that goal,” she continues. “At a time when it could have been very easy to sit in bed and feel bad for myself, instead of focusing on the bad, I did this every day: I thought about what I am lucky for in my life. I looked at all the positive.”

Bill claims that the devastating ordeal actually brought the couple closer together.

“For the first time in our marriage, we started praying together,” he states. “We’ve never really done that. I don’t care what religion you are. With faith it doesn’t matter, you find your god in a situation with this.”

We are wishing Giuliana a speedy recovery!

I hope she gets her dream of having a baby, but if not, there are lots of other options available even if they're not her first choice. Here's hoping for the best for them!

I'm just wondering, isn't cancer a bad genetic trait to pass on to a child? How do you decide what is not a good idea to pass on to future generations? If only healthy people had kids, the population would be so much healthier after a while. I am guessing they dont want to adopt. They seem like a wonderful couple, supportive husband too.

Your comment is hysterical!! Only people with no cancer in their family should have kids? Are there any such people alive today?

They are a wonderful couple and I can't wait when I hear the news that they are expecting. I love watching their show, they are so down to earth and a great example of how a couple in the lime light should be.

Guiliana and Bill, God is with you; I'm always saying myself this sentence: God is walking in a way we can't see; He never sleeps, he never slumbers.
He is with you and let him be in you, praise the Lord. I know that very soon, you will be pregnant. As you live together, and do all marvelous things that you do for others, you will have what you desire, Just pray, and me too, i will do the prayer for you.
God bless you. and i wish you, Guiliana a speedy recovery.

I really do belive you wil have beautiful kids real soon! My husband had cancer and had one od his testicals removed and i had uterus cancer. Although doctors told us the chances of having kids are not high, we now have a beautiful girl (3) and a beatiful boy (1) and life is perfect! We are in our late 30ies and we wished for kids earlier, but they really came in a perfect time and i wouldn't change a thing! Giulliana and Bill, this Croatian mama wishes you all the best!

I have been following all your hardship in trying to have a baby, and for so long I really felt I wanted to reach out to you and see how I could help. I am a catholic so I really believe in the power of prayer. So glad you are starting to pray together. I had a friend whoo coulldn't concieve for 7 years and i gave her the holy picture of Beata Gianna Berretta Molla ( an Italian doctor who had died giving birth to her daughter) after the family started praying to Gianna, the couple concieved naturally. Another friend of mine concieved naturally after twelve years - they too prayed the prayer at the back of the holy picture. Please try to get one and pray together. Another friend of mine concieved naturally with the help of acupuncture. I know Giuliana you tried it once, maybe you can pursue it again. I will really pray for you, and should you wish I will send you a holy picture of Beata Gianna. Wish you the very best to both of you and God Bless you.
