Melissa McCarthy On Juggling Work & Family: "It's Looney!"

With two young kids at home and a career that’s skyrocketing, actress Melissa McCarthy knows well the challenge of striking the right balance between work and family life. Though the Bridesmaids star admits it’s not always easy, she says she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It’s looney!” Melissa told SheKnows at this weekend’s Palm Springs Film Festival Awards Gala. “But it’s the same as any working mom or parent. It’s so fun that it’s worth it.”

With awards season here, the funny mom, who has daughters Vivian, 4, and Georgette, 1, with her husband Ben Falcone, also dished on how she gets red carpet-ready:

“I try to get out of the house without macaroni and cheese [on me]. I wait till the last second to get dressed because I have to avoid the little kid hands down me.”

she must be compensating by eating a lot of junk and not finding time to exercise…I mean, I’m sorry, but in this day and age there is no excuse to be obese. and don’t give me “it’s a glandular problem!” or “my genetics are bad!.” LIFE-STYLE FAIL.

What an inconsiderate b@#*h you are. Do you even have any idea what a “glandular problem” is or what it can do to your body? My guess is no you don’t, otherwise you wouldn’t have made such a comment.

I am 5’4, small boned, and should weigh around 135 lbs. I have been in tip top shape my whole life, I always eat right, & always exercise. 8 years ago I got put on an anti-depressant that made me gain 60 lbs. in 3 months. I stopped the meds and tried forever to lose the weight to no avail. I found out last year that I have hypothyroidism that had gone undiagnosed for almost a decade. In case you’re unaware, that is a legitimate problem with the thyroid. It is underactive and slows down the metabolism. It can cause weight gain, and can make it near impossible to lose a pound no matter how hard you try.

I am on meds that control my hypothyroidism but I have still not been able to lose all of the weight I gained for reasons still out of my control. I also have Epilepsy and while one of my seizure meds can actually cause weight loss, the other stalls it. I eat right, I take care of myself, & I exercise yet I am still 40 pounds overweight.

While I don’t know what Melissa’s story is, I know what mine is and I’m sure there are others like it out there.

to anonymous – ever heard of beauty is only skin deep. My guess is you are the poster child for that term. And what the hell are you doing up at 1
:38 am in the morning, just got back from your stripping job, hoping that pole is keeping you skinny. Because you won’t be getting far with your personality.
