With a new last name, Vanessa Lachey is enjoying her job as host of ABC’s Wipeout and being a married woman.
She tells Parade.com, “I think as I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned to look at life and take every day as it comes. Not that I don’t have goals and dreams, but now that I’m married, I’m excited to start that next chapter of being a wife and someday being a mom and just moving forward and seeing what life brings me. So far, life has brought me good things: I’m on a great show, I’ve got great friends, and a good husband, so I’m happy!”
The 31-year-old presenter says being married to Nick Lachey is not “dramatically different.”
I think that means we were good to begin with. We worked out all of our kinks when we dated and after everything we’ve been through, there’s nothing that we can’t handle and take on. It’s a comforting thought to know that I’ve got my partner by my side walking through life and all the ups and the downs. I know we can handle it. There’s nothing too big or too crazy that’s going to tear us apart.”
With a busy work schedule, she admits being on the set of Wipeout is challenging.
She explains, “It’s crazy! I’m there 14 hours a day, every single day, so I see the good, the bad, and the ugly. I’ve always been a fan of the show, so this was an easy transition for me. But everything is bigger in person. [The set] is literally like a theme park.”
In all, Lachey says that family is priority.
She shares, “First and foremost, we have to make the priority each other and everything else falls into place. Yes, work is what makes the world go ’round and it’s our creative outlet, but at the end of the day, your partner is your family and that is your life.”
