Cynthia Nixon was spotted as she walked son Charles, 9, to school in New York City on Wednesday (January 25).
The two were dressed for the cold winter weather – Cynthia was wearing a knit cap not only to ward off a chill but to cover up her head that she recently shaved for her role in the Broadway play, Wit.
Of her new look, the actress says it’s not as low-maintenance as she thought it would be. “I thought it was kind of gonna be no muss-no fuss, but I have to shave it every day!” she laughs. “It’s got kind of a five o’clock shadow, and you don’t want to go on with that.”
“I was always kind of curious to see what it would be like. I like it; I don’t think I’m gonna keep it forever.”
In Wit, the Sex And The City star plays the role of a professor who is suffering from cancer. The role is close to the actress’ heart – she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.

If you’ve never seen the movie “Wit”, you should. Emma Thompson was amazing in it. I won’t get to see Cynthia Nixon in the role on Broadway, but I could see her rocking this part.
