Angelina Jolie On Parenting: "Everything That Matters In Life"

Being mom to six kids can be challenging, but Angelina Jolie believes it’s one of the most important things in her world. In a recent interview the Oscar-winning actress was asked what she felt was the best part about parenting her large brood with partner Brad Pitt, and she was effusive.

“There are far too many things to count. But everything that matters in life has to do with being a parent,” she said about being mom to kids Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 5, and three-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne .

Angelina admitted that she would “be a mom and travel more” if she wasn’t an actor or a director, and she also offered up some advice for other women.

“Be yourselves. Don’t listen to what people say.”

Hey, Angie, you said it wrong. Try this: “Everything that matters in MY life [i.e., YOUR life, Angie, not mine] has to do with being a parent.” In other words, speak for yourself, sweetie. There are many different paths to personal fulfillment. And, given the increasingly negative impact of the human population on planet Earth, maybe having kids should be one of the paths less taken.

There are also many paths to altruism and civic duty. Those of us without kids are more able to do the work that parents are to busy for. If everyone had kids, society would collapse.
