It looks as though time has run out for Griffin O’Neal.
Griffin – who is the eldest son of Bones actor Ryan O’Neal and brother to actress Tatum O’Neal – was recently sentenced to 16 months in prison for a DUI crash last summer that resulted in injuries to the other driver.
E!Online is reporting that in November, the troubled actor pleaded guilty to two felony counts of driving under influence of drugs and possession of a firearm by a felon but missed his initial sentencing hearing in January.
Griffin’s lawyer explained that his client was in rehab after drinking alcohol for the first time in five years and, as a result, was unable to make his court date.
Despite his lawyers story, Griffin is headed to prison and faces as much as four years behind bars for the two felonies above.
This isn’t the first crime Griffin has committed. His checkered past includes arrests for DUI’s back in 1989 and in 2007, an arrest for allegedly terrorizing an ex-girlfriend in 1992 and again in 2012.
In 1986, Griffin had a boating accident in Annapolis, Maryland that took the life of film producer Gian-Carlo Coppola, son of Francis Ford Coppola. He was convicted of negligently operating a boat, and received an 18-day jail sentence for not completing community service.
