Love is in the air!
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, we asked some of our favorite celebrity moms about their romantic plans on the heart-filled day. From Soleil Moon Frye‘s annual scavenger hunt with the kids, to Elisabeth Hasselbeck‘s private valentine exchange, to newly-single Melissa Rivers sharing her thoughts about the ‘dreaded’ big day, read about how the stars will celebrate Valentine’s Day.
- Elisabeth Hasselbeck:
The View star Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her husband of nine years, football star Tim Hasselbeck, enjoy sharing the spirit of Valentine’s Day with their kids. The 34-year-old mom-of-three children – daughter Grace, 6, and sons Taylor, 4, and Isaiah, 2 – opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about sharing “candy in bed” with their brood.
Valentine’s Day is really about the kids,” she said. “Before big days, I like to spend the night decorating the kitchen table for them. This year, I am thinking we will have candy for breakfast!
But the romance of the day won’t be lost on the longtime couple. “We will give each other a valentine in front of the kids…and one NOT in front of them!” Elisabeth added.
- Melissa Rivers:
We’ve watched Melissa Rivers, 44, the only child of comedienne Joan Rivers, 78, grow up to become a fashion expert and mom to 11-year-old son Cooper. The star of Joan & Melissa: Joan Knows Best? opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her recent breakup from boyfriend Jason and feeling good about the ‘dreaded’ big day.
Well I always dread that big day,” she jokes. “If you’re alone you feel like a loser, and if you’re with someone there’s way too much pressure. It’s a little bit like New Years – too much pressure!”
Does she have any big plans on the romantic day? “I haven’t even thought that far ahead yet,” she says.
- Jill Zarin:
Jill Zarin‘s departure from The Real Housewives of New York has not slowed her down one bit! The internet is abuzz with rumors of a new reality TV series, she is launching a new jewelry line, and the headlines with ex BFF Bethenny Frankel continue to keep us talking. “There’s no feud,” Jill told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “Absolutely no feud. None whatsoever.”
The reality TV star also opened up about her Valentine’s Day plans and keeping the flame burning with husband Bobby Zarin.
I make a big deal about Valentine’s,” Jill said. “We go to a nice restaurant and some years we take a trip with friends. Every year it’s different. The flame isn’t always burning hot. It goes up and down as all marriages and relationships do. But I think Bobby and I have great chemistry and we know each other very well. Bobby taught me – because he’s a little bit older and wiser than me – that relationships are like a book. You have short chapters and long chapters, fast chapters and slow chapters. You just have to be patient and get to the next chapter. You know, don’t throw out the book with the bathwater, so to speak. Not that I’m naming any recently divorced names, but you have to at least try and give it your best shot.”
- Judy Reyes:
Actress Judy Reyes and her partner George Valencia welcomed first child Leila Rey in November 2009. Judy opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about how parenting has brought them closer together. “We count on each other, George and I,” she said.
The Scrubs alum said they like to keep the romance alive year-round.
My man and I have date night every week,” Judy said. “So Valentine’s Day will be no exception and if we don’t go out that day, it’ll happen that week. That’s one of the wonderful things that Leila has brought to our lives. She’s the spark of love in our life. So far, so good. It’s pretty sexy between us. We don’t say, ‘Valentine’s Day is coming up so we better do something.’ We keep things steady year-round.”
- Soleil Moon Frye:
Punky Brewster alum Soleil Moon Frye and her husband of 13 years, Jason Goldberg, are parents to daughters Poet, 6, and Jagger, 3. The actress opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about their Valentine’s Day plans.
I would just love to have some romantic time with my husband,” Soleil said. “A movie and dinner is always good!
She also shared how they keep the flame burning year-round. “We try to do date nights. Sometimes it’s just about connecting at home when the kids are asleep,” she said. “It’s great to just sit down and talk, turn off technology and just spend time connecting.”
And they make the heart-filled holiday a family affair with an annual scavenger hunt.
Every year we try to do a scavenger hunt with the girls and my brother and his wife put together,” Soleil said. “It’s a lot of fun and last year we found ourselves at the beach with a canister buried in the sand. We do clues for the kids and it’s super fun.”
- Wendy Williams:
Talk show host Wendy Williams has a lot to celebrate this Valentine’s Day! The TV personality and author told Celebrity Baby Scoop that both she and her husband Kevin Hunter are “sexier and more attractive to each other today than when we first met.” After 14 years of marriage, Wendy opened up about keeping the flame burning year-round and their Valentine’s Day plans this year.
“I want lobster and I already told my husband that!” Wendy told Celebrity Baby Scoop of their Valentine’s Day plans.
I have to tell you that we’re the least tradition of many of the couples we know,” Wendy said. “We got married at city hall in regular clothes, we ordered Chinese afterwards, there were no witnesses and we’ve been married for 14 years. When my birthday comes, I can’t remember when I’ve asked my husband for a gift. We almost feel like if we celebrate the holidays that everybody else celebrates, it will jinx our love.”
She added: “We have date nights and we work together. We have mutual respect as life partners and business partners. We are both sexier and more attractive to each other today than when we first met, which is saying a whole lot because we started dating 17 years ago. I BS you not, my husband is hotter now than he was all those years ago.
Wendy went on to say that her husband gifts her with “love and encouragement” throughout the year.
We also have separate interests within the confines of working together and co-parenting. It just works for us. And if I go to the mall and I see something perfect for him, I’m not going to put it under the bed and wait until Valentine’s Day! I want to give it to him today. I’m a career girl, I can go out and buy things for myself so I don’t need a lot of gifts from him. But what he does give me is his love and encouragement.”
- Alexis Bellino:
Blonde bombshell Alexis Bellino keeps things interesting on The Real Housewives of Orange County. And the 35-year-old reality TV star knows how to keep the flame burning in her marriage as well! The mother-of-three opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her “hilarious” plans on Valentine’s Day. Although she won’t be doing too much celebrating with her husband of 7-years, Jim Bellino, the Housewives star said they work at keeping their love alive throughout the year.
This is hilarious, but I haven’t had a facial in 5 months because of how busy I’ve been and I’m getting a peel done on Valentine’s Day,” Alexis said. “So my husband and I and two other groups of our friends are going to celebrate Valentine’s Day on the 25th because I will not be in any condition to go out for Valentine’s Day. I guess that’s what happens after 7 years of being married!”
The happy couple do “little things” to keep the flame burning year-round.
My husband and I try to keep the romance alive year-round,” she said. “We’ll take bubble baths together, or he’ll go shopping for me which I think is so amazing because he knows my clothing size and he’ll bring home something that fits me well and that I wouldn’t pick off the rack. And he loves it when I make him breakfast in bed or do little things. We both know our ‘love language’ and what we need from each other. But this is our 7-year itch and we’re having to pump it up a little bit. I don’t want to fall into that rut.”
She added: “We still do date nights. We used to do 2 a week where we’d go out early from 5-7 and still come home to put the kids to bed. And one night with our friends from 7-10. But now we’re down to one night a week just because we’re so busy. But every night we spend about 20 minutes just catching up with each other on what’s going on for that day.”
