Everyone loves a fun children’s birthday party!
But in Hollywood, the kids get more than just hot dogs and homemade cupcakes! From
$100,000 extravagant affairs when Suri Cruise turned two, to themed and catered events like Stella McDermott‘s third birthday, to Cruz Beckham’s costume party in Beverly Hills, here’s your invitation into the birthday bashes of Tinseltown’s tots.
- Suri Cruise:
One of the most celebrated tots in Hollywood, Suri Cruise, is well-known for her extravagant birthday parties. Most people don’t spend thousands on their birthday parties in a lifetime, but Suri isn’t most people. Her second birthday party made headline news when parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes spent a reported $100,000 on the event. The theme was butterflies, and the lavish cake had an excessive $5,000 price tag alone! Catering set back the famous parents $45,000, and the sweets didn’t end with the cake. Reportedly, $230 was doled out for cupcakes from LA’s Sprinkles bakery as well.
Fast forward a few years where we spotted the mini fashionista celebrating her fifth birthday with a lavish tea party alongside mom and dad at their Beverly Hills mansion last April. Wearing a pink dress and turquoise shades, Suri – famous for her fashionable duds, heels and makeup – sat at the head of the table, surrounded by siblings Bella, then 18, and Connor, then 16, and other guests.
Mama Katie talked about the party plans a few weeks prior to the lavish event. “This is my favorite day of the year,” the Dawson’s Creek alum said. “So we’re gonna have a little tea party, and I like to girl it up.”
Rumor has it that Tom splurged – big time – on his little girl. “Tom decided to add $5 million — in honor of her milestone birthday — to Suri’s trust fund,” a family insider said. “She already has several million in the fund.”
- Jesse & Journey Ortiz:
What a party! Former porn star Jenna Jameson and partner Tito Ortiz threw a huge bash to mark their twin sons’ Jesse and Journey’s second birthdays.
The couple went all out for their boys’ big day, celebrating with a bouncy castle and slide, balloon animals, tons of toys, and a Sesame Street-themed cake. Though a neighbor’s noise complaint resulted in a brief visit by the police, Jesse and Journey appeared to have a great day.
And while the boys were only turning 2, their mom has high hopes for them already.
“First they’ve got to get their master’s degree. Then if they want to fight, 100% yes,” Jenna said (their dad Tito is a UFC fighter). “I want doctors.,” she added.
- Harlow Madden:
It was a star-studded birthday bash for Harlow Madden!
Rockstar papa Gavin Rossdale was seen with his two sons – Kingston, 5, and Zuma, 3 – in Sherman Oaks, Calif. on January 16. Leaving mama Gwen Stefani with a day off, the Rossdale boys and the nanny arrived at The COOP to celebrate the 4th birthday of Harlow Madden, the daughter of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden. This is the same children’s play space where Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz threw Bronx Mowgli’s third birthday.
The Toy Story-themed bash was attended by 35 kids, and all were treated to a visit from the Pixar film’s characters Woody, Jessie and Buzz.
Also in attendance was Jennifer Meyer, the wife of Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire, and their two kids Ruby, 5, and Otis, 2. Uncle Benji Madden arrived right after the arrival of Buzz Lightyear and Jessie from Toy Story.
“Harlow started crying when everyone sang happy birthday and Joel said she was crying tears of joy,” an onlooker said of the 4-year-old, who munched on pizza and juice, along with a sugar-free Cake Diva confection, at the bash. “Everyone had a blast and Joel and Nicole said it was their best kids party yet,” the insider added.
- Simone Lynn Masterson-Horn:
Auntie Tori Spelling sure knows how to throw a party!
Simone Lynn Masterson-Horn, whom is lovingly referred to as “Nuggy” by her dads ‘The Guncles‘ – Scout Masterson and Bill Horn – celebrated her first birthday in style at The Carousel at Santa Monica Pier.
Thanks to BFF Tori Spelling who helped plan the party, it was a day to remember! Joined by 60 friends and family, including godmother Spelling and her family, Ali Landry and Sasha Alexander, Simone enjoyed a raspberry and pink ‘Modern Circus’ themed bash. “Simone’s birthday was perfect – good friends, family, lots of fun on the carousal, and of course, cake,” her dads told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “Who doesn’t love birthday cake?! Simone’s now a BIG fan.”
The guests noshed on goodies from Grilled Cheese Patrol, Jenny Cookies and Sweet Lucie’s Organic Ice Cream Truck. The flowers were provided by The Bashful Rose and the invitations were created by Copper Willow Paper Studio. The birthday girl wore a dress by Luna Luna and treated her guests to gift bags from Gotta Have It.
- Liam & Stella McDermott:
From Liam’s superhero party, to Stella’s Hello Kitty-themed bash, Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott love throwing huge birthday parties for their kids!
Held in the backyard of the Spelling-McDermott Los Angeles home, Stella’s third birthday party included a huge bouncy castle, lots of inflatables, a themed chill out area, Hello Kitty characters, a pampering station and face painting were all part of the birthday extravaganza.
Stella was also treated to a Hello Kitty birthday cake which was actually bigger than the birthday girl herself! Famous guests included The Guncles, Denise Richards and Ali Landry. The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star was tweeting throughout the party, documenting events at the posh birthday bash.
- Cruz Beckham:
The youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham, Cruz, was all smiles as he arrived with his mom Victoria and big brothers Brooklyn, then 10, and Romeo, then 7, at Xtreme Martial Arts World Headquarters in Hollywood, California to celebrate his fifth birthday.
The adorable boy was dressed from head-to-toe in a Transformers costume, upstaging his fashionista mama!
This is clearly one of Cruz’s favourite places as he also celebrated his fourth birthday at the same play center, where he dressed as Wolverine from the X Men.
- Birdie Silverstein:
Cougar Town star Busy Philipps sat down with Celebrity Baby Scoop and talked about celebrating her daughter Birdie’s upcoming third birthday.
“We’re doing a giant renovation on the exterior of our home,” Busy explained. “Part of it is adding a big, flat front yard that will be hedged in and will – hopefully – be beautiful. I’ve told my contractors that it has to be done by her birthday because I’ve promised her a beautiful outdoor party.”
Busy went on to say that it would be a Tangled-theme birthday bash held in the backyard of their Los Angeles home.
“She loves the movie Tangled and we read the books from the movie – and she wants lanterns,” Busy said. “I think I’ll hang Chinese lanterns outside and I thought a fun activity for the kids would be getting white lanterns in China Town and all the kids could decorate them with glitter and paints. And of course she wants a Rapunzel cake so I’m going to make her the Rapunzel tower for her cake.”
- Hank Baskett IV:
The gorgeous son of Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett just turned 2-years-old. Before the birthday bash, the reality TV mama talked about planning the “intimate” Cars-themed party.
“We’re going to keep it pretty intimate,” Kendra said. “We don’t want to overwhelm him. We don’t want to invite people over just for the hell of it. We want to make sure that he knows and he likes everybody that’s around him.”
It sounds like the guests were treated to a great time. “He’s obsessed with Cars, so we’re going to do a Cars-themed birthday party,” she said. “We’re going to make him the race car driver and we’re having a cake made, a race car cake.”
So does Kendra enjoy her role as party-planner? “It is a lot of fun,” she said. “As everybody knows, I’m not a person that really knows how to plan birthday parties and stuff like that. But now I’m a mom and these are the days I’ve been waiting for. Now it’s time to settle down and start really having fun with planning birthdays and planning traditional things like Christmas and Thanksgiving and all that.”
- Honor Warren:
Look out New York City!
When she was expecting her second child, Jessica Alba was photographed with her birthday girl, Honor Marie, in New York City. Always the fashionista, Honor celebrated her third birthday in style on the streets of NYC in none other than a fancy princess dress with a badge that read, “Birthday Girl.”
The pretty pair were spotted with papa Cash Warren and the nanny as they left their Manhattan hotel and headed to Bubbys in Tribeca to celebrate the big day with some friends.
Before the celebrations began, Jessica took to Twitter to wish her daughter a happy birthday.
“Happy Bday 2 my lil princess… Can’t believe it’s been 3 yrs already!” Jess wrote. “On the other hand I can’t imagine my life b4 her! #proudmomma”
- Kingston Rossdale:
You only turn 4 once and in honor of Kingston Rossdale’s big day, his famous parents spared no expense!
A source said that Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rossdale spent $15,000 on their firstborn son’s May 29 birthday bash at their Los Angeles-area home.
The 100 party guests – including fellow celeb parents Kate Beckinsale and David and Victoria Beckham – noshed on burgers, hot dogs, tacos, quesadillas, french fries and chicken fingers. In addition to Kingston’s birthday cake, sweets included a cotton candy machine and a lemonade stand.
What kind of entertainment was available for the little people? A bouncy castle, three birds, a face painter, a balloon artist, and roaming super hero characters.
To primp and prep for the elaborate birthday bash, Gwen took Kingston for a mother-son mani-pedi at the salon.
- John & Gus Phillips:
Modern Family star Julie Bowen chose to be charitable when it came to throwing the first birthday party for her twin sons John and Gus. She decided to support charity organization Baby2Baby, which supplies families in need with essential baby gear.
“Honestly, [the twins] have more than enough stuff and there are so many families in Los Angeles that don’t even have the bare necessities,” Julie said. “So if I can take two over-privileged kids’ birthdays and use it as an opportunity to get other kids the stuff they need, I’m overjoyed to do that.”View Slideshow »»
