Padma Lakshmi & Adam Dell Settle Custody Dispute

The 2-year custody battle between Padma Lakshmi and Adam Dell has finally been resolved.

The Top Chef host and Dell, father of 2-year-old Krishna, have been in a bitter custody war since the birth of their baby girl. Venture capitalist Dell, 42, sued Lakshmi, 41, last year for custody of their daughter Krishna, claiming that the reality TV star tried “to minimize, if not eliminate, [Dell's] role in Krishna’s life.”

Lakshmi, who was in a relationship with the late businessman Teddy Forstmann, remained mum on the identity of her baby’s father. Dell’s lawsuit cited a DNA test that proved he was the father.

According to Thursday’s New York Post, Dell has succeeded in being recognized as Krishna’s father, and now the 2-year-old child will carry his famous last name.

Their daughter’s full name will now be Krishna Thea Lakshmi-Dell. “Padma basically said it was fine to add his name, but she retains all decision-making power, which is really what matters most to her,” a source close to Lakshmi tells PEOPLE. “She makes all the decisions on education, health, everything.”

Dell and Lakshmi, who settled out of court, also came to a compromise on custody and visitation rights.

“Having her daughter spend time with her father was never a big issue for her,” the source says of Lakshmi. In regards to visitation, “she gave a little more time because as the child gets older, it’s normal to give more.”

“It’s been very difficult for her,” the source continues. “She’s happy that its over, that it was settled out of court and that nobody won or lost.”

Another woman from the Halle Berry school of parenting. This case will be in and out of the courts for years while he fights to see his kid and she continues to treat her like property instead of like a kid who needs both parents. You want total control? Use a donor, don’t expect somebody to walk away from their child.

More like the Kim Basinger school of parenting, since you want to blame the woman for something you know nothing of except for what is published in the media, regardless if it’s truth or lie.

Well, the courts sided with the men in both the Berry case and this one, so I guess it’s not really me blaming anybody, it’s the judicial system. A system, by the way, known for protecting the mother at the expense of the father’s rights, and yet, in both these cases the courts saw the situation for what it is, a control freak with issues who puts herself in front of her child’s need for a father.

I completely agree. If you want to be sole parent or decision-maker, use a donor. Don’t just have the kid then think, “well, it would be easier for me if you’re not around.” or if they start dating someone else, they’ll just make a new family and the father (or mother) can F-off. That’s so selfish.

Cute little Eurasian girl. Funny how the mom chose a rich white guy to have a child with but now only wants dad’s money.

The source sounds like her PR person.

she sound like a selfish person who only thinks about herself and her wants, next time she should think about going to a sperm bank or adopt if she dosen’t want the father in the child’s life.

She looks exactly like her Dadd.! I can’t believe there was ever an issue of paternity (I read this in another article). She’s the spitting image of Adam Dell!

She’s certainly backpedaling now that she’s lost the case. It’s all BS on her part. She didn’t want the bio dad to have any rights. I know he’s been maligned in the media but I doubt he’s this ogre he’s been made out to be. I imagine it’s not really over but he can haul her selfish azz into court if she doesn’t keep to her end of the custody arrangement.

I completely agree if the whole thing was never a big issue for her, then why we’re they in court for 2 years why did he have to fight for every right he has as a father. Like being name as the father or spending more than 3 hours 2 days a week with his daughter If it was never a big big issue for her one would think it would have been settled out of court and a long time ago.

Her PR time is working over time trying to paint her as somthing her actions shows she not.

I see the mom’s point of view but you can’t deny the fact that the baby’s dad’s name needs to be on that birth certificate. No one knows what she is going through, we only hear a very small part of it. Men love their little girls and they need that father figure in their life.
