When Varsity Blues actor James Van Der Beek announced via Twitter that he and his wife Kimberly Brook welcomed a baby boy on March 13th, the 35-year-old father left out one important detail – his son’s name.
A rep for the Dawson’s Creek alum has recently confirmed to Us Weekly that the couple have named their newborn son Joshua.
Back in 2011, James admitted that fatherhood nothing like he had imagined.
“You know what surprised me the most? I was prepared for it to be a lot of work, but if anybody would’ve told me how much fun it would be, I would not have believed them,” he told Us Weekly. “People always say, ‘It’s the best thing you’ll ever do,’ but I always thought they meant 10 or 20 years down the road when you’d be like, ‘I’m glad I had a kid.’ But moment to moment, it’s really the most fun I’ve ever had.
“Of course there are a lot of sleepless nights,” he continued. “But it just surprised me how much fun it all is. You can’t really communicate that to someone who doesn’t have a kid.”
Be sure to check out James in his new television show Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 which premieres April 11 on ABC.
