Vanessa Lachey: “I Know [Nick's] Going To Sing To The Baby Every Single Day”

They may have only announced they were expecting their first child only weeks ago but that hasn't stopped celebrity couple Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Lachey from beginning to prepare for their little one's arrival this summer! In an interview with Parade.com, the 31-year-old Wipeout host talks about the nesting instinct, her personal cravings and her husband's knack of singing to their unborn child.

On nesting: "I have [been nesting] in my mind but I've been a little consumed with work. But the interesting thing I've noticed is my husband is nesting. I always thought it was the woman but he's doing his little nesting part too. He saw this old table we have and he sanded it, then he stained it, put glass on it. He made us a desk! It was pretty incredible. Now I feel guilty so I think because of that I tried to put the stroller together the other day. But we have a good amount of time to prepare."

They may have only announced they were expecting their first child only weeks ago but that hasn’t stopped celebrity couple Nick Lachey and his wife Vanessa Lachey from beginning to prepare for their little one’s arrival this summer! In an interview with Parade.com, the 31-year-old Wipeout host talks about the nesting instinct, her personal cravings and her husband’s knack of singing to their unborn child.

On nesting: “I have [been nesting] in my mind but I’ve been a little consumed with work. But the interesting thing I’ve noticed is my husband is nesting. I always thought it was the woman but he’s doing his little nesting part too. He saw this old table we have and he sanded it, then he stained it, put glass on it. He made us a desk! It was pretty incredible. Now I feel guilty so I think because of that I tried to put the stroller together the other day. But we have a good amount of time to prepare.”

On her pregnancy cravings: “I think it’s important to let yourself indulge but what I eat, what I put into my body, goes directly to my baby. It makes you think, ‘Do I really want to get that Snickers bar snack or do I want to get a bowl of fruit?’ So then I go for the fruit and the antioxidants. But of course I’m human and after we went out to dinner last night, I had a bowl of ice cream. After the baby is born, I still want to have me. I don’t want to start at ground zero to try and get back to that.”

On Nick’s baby crooning: “Some of the books are inconsistent on when the baby can hear me and outside voices. I told him the other day that the baby could hear him now and he corrected me! He was like, ‘no, actually according to my book…” When that time does come, I know he’s going to sing to the baby every single day. It’s sweet to see that smile on his face.”

i think she sounds like she’s being smart about her pregnancy and cravings. she’s allowing herself to indulge but not go over board. so many women think that pregnancy is a free for all. and while yes – people understand you’re going to gain weight, stuffing your face with junk food for 9 months isn’t going to end in a healthy baby.

vanessa sounds like she’s thinking of her baby first, and her WANTS second.

ps: i think it’s ridiculous that people want to CONSTANTLY compare vanessa to jessica simpson. they’re two entirely different people. yes, jessica was previously married to nick. THEY’RE DIVORCED and both have moved on. don’t you think it’s time the rest of the world does too?

Yes, you’re right. Jessica Simpson is so much more responsbile stuff ing her face with fried Oreos and buttered Pop-Tarts. How presumptious of this lesser woman to watch what she eats and overdo the junk food. She should be shot!

Me thinks you have no idea what self-righteous means.
