To prepare for his role as Bruce Banner – aka The Incredible Hulk – in this month’s highly anticipated flick The Avengers, Mark Ruffalo says he sought the help of his 10-year-old son Keen.
The 44-year-old dad-of-three says that his oldest offered up some sound advice while the pair watched the old TV series The Incredible Hulk: “At one point, Keen turned to me, and said, ‘Papa, he’s so misunderstood,’” he tells the Ottawa Citizen. “I thought, ‘He gets it.’ It was a great way into Banner for me.”
As for the Hulk’s legendary temper, Mark, who also has daughters Bella, 6, and Odette, 4, with his wife Sunrise, admits that being a hands-on dad helped with that.
“I have a hair-trigger temper. And I have lots of practice: A parent who doesn’t yell at (his) kids isn’t spending enough time with them.”
The Avengers, which also stars Robert Downey Jr, hits theaters on Friday, May 4.
