Chris Martin Teaches Apple & Moses “Good English Manners”

Unlike her hit movie Meet The Parents, there are no awkward moments between Blythe Danner and her son-in-law, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, 35!

The 69-year-old Emmy and Tony award-winning actress and mother of Gwyneth Paltrow, 39, gets along smashingly with her famous SIL. Paltrow and Martin have two children, Apple, nearly 8, and Moses, 6.

Oh, Chris is wonderful and he’s so good with their children and he’s taught them those good English manners,” Danner told the Daily Mail.

Danner’s Oscar-winning daughter married the lead vocalist of Coldplay in December 2003.

I think he met Gwyneth about a week after Bruce died. He would have loved him,” Danner said of her late husband Bruce Paltrow, who died ten years ago due to complications from cancer and pneumonia. “He wrote the song ‘Fix You’ for Gwyneth when her father died and I weep every time I hear it,” Danner said of Martin.

“I’m mostly a jazz fan and I’ve never really been into rock ‘n’ roll music — although I guess Coldplay isn’t really rock ‘n’ roll — but he’s made me a convert,” she said of being a fan of Coldplay. “I do go to their concerts whenever we’re in the same town and I don’t even have to wear earplugs any more, which I did in the beginning.”

And the grandbabies are musical as well!

“They’re much more into Glee because Gwynnie’s been on the show,” she said. “Mosey is very musical and he sings a lot of the songs from Glee.”

Danner went on to say her late husband is dearly missed by all.

He was the heart of our family, a rock,” she said. “It’s almost ten years and I miss him every day.”

“Good English Manners??” So Americans (and others) have no manners – or are their manners just not good? GMAB. Talk about a sweeping generalization. I guess it makes a bit of sense — the interview was with the Daily Mail after all….

PS – In the interests of full disclosure, I am not American.

English manners? Clearly she’s never been here LOL. I’ve found Americans to be far more friendly than the British. Coming from a British girl who’s spent time in the states.

I agree. As a British person myself who currently lives in the United States, I can tell you that Americans are far nicer and and more well-mannered than the British. Now, that is just my opinion so I don’t want to start any tiffs or anything. Maybe Gwyneth will teach them some good American manners.

LOL – too funny!! To be fair, you should have extended the bad teeth reference to include Scotland & Wales — i.e. Bad British Teeth. Trust me, we Scots give English get a run for their money on this one – you should see my Great Uncle Alistair

From what I’ve seen of Chris Martin, he is LACKING in good manners and could use some remedial help in that area.
