Francois-Henri Pinault: Salma Hayek Was Told The Baby Had Down Syndrome

Linda Evangelista took her son Augustin to a birthday party in the Upper East Side of New York City on Saturday (May 5). The 5-year-old – called Augie – held onto his mom’s hand while she carried the present. The supermodel has been facing off against Salma Hayek’s husband Francois-Henri Pinault in court. She is asking the court for $46,000 a month payments in child support.

According to Radaronline.com – Pinault had testified that he asked Evangelista not to go public with her claim for support. He also said that Salma was having a “difficult pregnancy”.

He said, “We were told the baby had Down syndrome until late May 2007. I asked Linda to delay [Augie's] legal recognition process until after the birth of Valentina.”

Evangelista and Pinault dated briefly from September 2005 to January 2006. Soon afterward he started dating Salma Hayek, now his wife. They have a 4-year-old daughter named Valentina.

Evangelista claims they broke up immediately after he asked her to terminate the pregnancy. Pinaulta’s lawyers say she is asking for “mommy support” rather than child support.

She’s not talking to the media. Any info about their custody case is coming from court documents. I’m pretty sure Family Court cases in NY are public.
I”m not a fan of hers, but I just wanted to clear that up.

What is up with men and women having sex then not liking what the obvious outcome was going to be a child!! Sex equals babies that is what sex is designed for to have babies! Francois wanted Linda to get an abortion? That’s ridiculous sex=babies. If you don’t want a child don’t have sex. Oh yeah and birth control and condoms all of that can fail no matter what. Men should realize that they are going to have to financially support a child if they have sex and the girl get gets pregnant. Women need to realize that the guy won’t always be there and she’s going to have to give up her life for the child. What on Earth every happened to waiting until marriage before having sex?? This Linda-Salyma- Francois thing is starting to sound like a Brigitte-Gisele-Tom thing or a Bristol-whatever that girls name is-Levi thing. WHEN WILL THIS END!?! Wait until marriage! Perfect example of people should be waiting until marriage and birth control failing.

So you think these two would have a better relationship if they were married?

They wouldn’t of gotten married in the first place which means they wouldn’t of had sex if they followed the wait until marriage stuff. Which means no baby crazy drama! Gosh this is just like Bridget – Gisele- Tom and Bristol-new girl- levi. There are so many of them LMAOOOO. Some consequences are just so funny!

How narrow is your focus when normal people are struggling to make ends meet for their families and you are asking for $46,000 a month to support one child?

This man has 4 children by 3 different women, should he not support all of them the same? Why should any of the children be slighted just because he did not marry their mother?

A previous article on CBS said that Pinault took Valentina on a weeks-long holiday to Bora Bora that cost more than $52,000 per day. He has more money than I could ever dream of. Why should only just one of the children he’s fathered benefit from his wealth?

“Normal people” have NOTHING to do with this case. This is about THEIR financial situation. Why does everyone have so much hate for this woman and not the father who ignores this child and won’t give him the same things in life that he gives his other kids?!?!?

What awful, awful people, those two… Poor children involved. I really don’t get why that guy doesn’t simply pay. It’s his son, he is a billionaire, WTF?

By the way, it’s Down’s Syndrome, not Down Syndrome.

No, it was changed in the 90s. It is correct to say and write Down Syndrome. Although Down’s Syndrome is still considered somewhat acceptable, it was changed by the DS community to reflect that Dr. Down did not have Down Syndrome.

      no, it’s actually down syndrome.

Nope. It is Down – no “s” – Syndrome. And it is politically incorrect to say someone has “Down’s” for further reference.

My grandson has it. Often you will see it just written as DS as we often see on our boy’s paperwork.

In the U.S. it is Down syndrome–it hasn’t changed; it has always been Down syndrome. In the UK, they use Down’s Syndrome. Either is correct.

    This. Is. LAME.

The people talking about all these personal things in the press are lame.

    The papers/website spreading are lame.

I feel a little biot lame just beacause I am commenting on that story.

Seriously, this battle should stay private for Valentina’s and Augustin’s sake…

From what I understand, they are not talking to the press. All this information is coming from court transcripts but it still gives me the creeps hearing all this. Imagine what will happen when the children grow up and find out all this went on in the public eye.

If my entire family can live from $1000 per month, I believe her son can too and she is obviously able to afford him a very high-standard life. I feel sick from both of them…

This case has nothing to do with YOU. Your financially situation is irrelvant, and the fact that you even brought it up is ignorant and stupid.

(And by the way: $1000 a month? Try getting a job!)

I am sure she has the means all by herself to raise him in the lap of luxury. Yes, the father should pay child support. But asking for the amount she’s asking just trivializes the meaning of the child support system.

No, it doesn’t. If three of his kids are being raised a certain way, then there is no reason that the fourth shouldn’t be as well.

Bad enough the father has no contact with him and can’t even be bothered to buy him a freaking birthday present.

I feel for Augie. He is going to find out his spoiled sister has huge trust funds and he’s got nothing except a few measly gifts his father can’t even remember getting him probably because one of his servants bought it. It is clear he has no feelings for him.
I have never said this about a child before but that is one good looking kid. I hope he grows up, he accomplishes his dreams.

Looking at pictures of Salma’s little daughter Valentina I could tell that she had Down’s Syndrome but her mother never say anything about it. Mr. Pinault is a billionaire who should support his son.

It’s not clear whether Linda Evangelista is talking to the press. She filed court documents (which are public), and it looks like her ex is the one who is publicly defending himself, which is airing their private business. It sounds, though, like his remarks may have been made in court, as well, and some of the gossip sites are sending reporters to get info to share.

My mom’s friend who was in her mid 40′s and hubby was almost 60 had a baby and was told the baby had Downs. They decided to go through with the pregnancy and her daughter turned out to not have downs. Really wish these test would be more accurate I can totally see woman aborting pregnancies bc of these results sometimes and it never is a 100% accurate.

No Valentina does NOT have Downs.

I hope they get this settled soon before the children are old enough to know what is going on. It must have been difficult for Salma to have waited that long to have a child then to be given such a diagnosis.

In a perfect world would people wait til marriage
which by the way is a socially and legal approved way to have Sex.
In reality humans have sex more for pleasure than procreation
If only people would empower their sexuality and take control.
birth control does fail I don’t see why any rich man, be it business man, especially Sports stars dont get snipped , bank their sperm and when they want a child they control the insemination

No it isn’t. They’ve even reported that for 5 months while pregnant they thought she did but she was born healthy. She has NO physical characteristics of Down Syndrome.

There is a high percentage of false positives and negatives for this disorder.

My daughter was tested, results were negative – including ultrasound results, and out sweet seven year old grandson has Down Syndrome. We wouldn’t change him for anything, but life would have been easier to be prepared early. They could have had specialist lined up in advance to take care of his AVC and Hirschsprungs.

If Linda wants a 24 hour nanny, she obviously does not want to do the “mother thing” so if you don’t want to be a mother let his father raise him. I think Henri and Salma should just get custody of Augie and raise him in a stable 2 parent home, then ask Linda for child support. It is obvious she has no time for him.

Yeah i noticed that too. When i first saw that picture of their son i thought he was the child that had down syndrome. But no he doesn’t nor does his half sister. I think Francois produces children that look like they have Downs but really they don’t. Maybe it’s because he’s so old when he fathered them or maybe it’s because of his facial features or something.

Unfortunately for them, both look like their daddy, instead of their super pretty mommies and that’s where this slight resemblance to Down Syndrome people comes from. But they don’t have it.
He should pay. It was probably a staged pregnancy in the manner of a gold-digger (she didn’t tell him she got off the pill or something) and I get it why Pinault is prob angry and doesn’t feel connected to the child. But the child is here, the daddy is rich and can afford any support

No man shoud leave birth control upo the woman unless they are willing to accep the consequences. Female birth control doesn’t always work and harder to tell that it even being used. Men suit up or you may have to pay up.

Exactly my point. Fraud or no fraud, it takes two to make a baby and the dad should pay.
I also think that child support should be decided on the wealth of the parent being sued, not on the child needs. A child can live on 500 or 5 billion, that cannot be estimated

If Pinault gave his son $46,000 a month for the next TWENTY YEARS, it would only equal the amount that he has paid for the house he has bought & put in trust for his 4 y.o. daughter by Salma Hayek – namely, $13 million. This does not include any money that he’ll probably continue to spend money on his daughter during these next 20 years, nor all he has lavished on her since her birth. Contrast this to the fact that he has not contributed ANY money to his son’s upbringing during the first five years of the boy’s life! The fact remains that Pinault has TWO children: a son as well as a daughter. So his son deserves to receive as much money as his father gives his half-sister. Besides, a $46,000 monthly payment to a man who’s net worth is $13 BILLION, is the EQUIVALENT of $2.30 a month for a man with a net worth of $650,000 – yes: TWO DOLLARS AND SOME CHANGE A MONTH! Would you not buy a little boy ONE cup of milk a month if you had $650,000 to your name? Puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
