Quotes:
“Roan already knows he’s adopted and Laird will learn as soon as he’s able to comprehend it. I have a bunch of friends who also have adopted children. And we jokingly refer to all the poor mothers who just have birth children — they don’t know what it really means to have a child pick you and you pick them. There’s kind of cosmic intensity about it. Our kids look so much more like us than birth children look like their parents.” – Sharon on the connection between adoptive parents and their children.
“[Laird is] a big romancer. When you talk to him on the phone, he’s like, ‘I’m in love with you, Mommy.’ ” – Sharon on her affectionate middle son.

I’ve heard that before, and my adopted son’s a different race and really doesn’t look at all like me. Friends have told me it’s more in the mannerisms, vocabulary, and speaking style.
