CBS: Tell us about some of the simple, at-home tricks for our least favorite body issues.
AO: “Let’s start with everyone’s least favorite — cellulite. By following my Less Cellulite in 7 plan, you will witness great pucker reduction fast! My personal favorite at-home remedy is my Anti-Cellulite Seaweed Wrap. A quick concoction of seaweed powder (available at health food stores) with a drizzle of olive oil, water and lavender oil create this incredible paste-like remedy. Apply each night for 30 minutes for maximum results.
Now let’s talk stretch marks. Did you know that stretch marks are 2.5 more frequent in women and affect 70%-90% of all pregnant women? My go-to solution is sitting right in your pantry — peanut butter! Don’t eat it, but rather mix the peanut butter with a little vegetable shortening and you’ve got a Peanut Butter Stretch Mark remedy that delivers visible results in 7 days flat!”
CBS: The book also explores quick weight-loss secrets, increased sleep and libido. Do tell!
AO: “Better in 7 arms readers with 20+ solution-oriented plans to help them change the way they look and feel without any invasive surgical procedures.
My Thinner in 7 plan is designed to safely carve off up to 10 pounds in a week, flatten your belly and even change your shape. Through calorie and water manipulation, you will literally see results overnight.
Better Sleep in 7 is one of my most treasured since we all know good sleep is hard to find. Try tweaking your lifestyle and you will be sleeping like a baby in no time.
- No caffeine after 6pm
- Awake the same time every day (including weekends)
- Always sleep in a dark room
- Your bed is ONLY for sleeping…no phones, games or TV
- Also, certain scents can help you relax & go to sleep easier. Try lavender, chamomile and linden blossom.
Go from ice queen to sex fiend in just seven days with my Better Sex in 7 plan.
Here are my top three food-related tips for increasing your libido:
- Salmon and walnuts are aphrodisiacs – both foods are brimming with omega-3 fatty
- acids, which keep sex-hormone production at its peak.
- Say Yes to Chocolate! Cocoa is loaded with the chemical phenylethylamine,
- a stimulant that spurs sexual desire and excitement.
- Smoothies! Mix up some soy milk, flaxseed, applesauce & honey for better orgasms!”
CBS: It doesn’t seem natural that a plastic surgeon would give away these preventative/non-surgical tips. What inspired you to write this book?
AO: “Every day people contemplate making drastic decisions to improve the way they look and feel. In the rebellion against surgery, the number of elective facial plastic surgery procedures has dropped 36 percent over the last 10 years in the United States, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeon. Better in 7 allows women to achieve amazing results naturally without the exorbitant costs of plastic surgery and the weeks of recuperation.”
CBS: It seems like more and more Hollywood stars are going under the knife and they have that ‘puffy face’ look. What is going on? From the outside, this seems very unnatural and unflattering.
AO: “You are right on target! We are having an epidemic of puffy faces in Hollywood. The real question is why? We know that facial volume is a key element to a youthful face and as we age we lose volume. However, doctors here in LA have literally gone overboard. Adding too much volume (e.g. fat, fillers, etc.) and putting it in places that don’t need it will actually alter a person’s natural appearance.
Always make sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon ahead of time and know exactly where and how much volume is going to be placed. Keep it natural.”
CBS: Have your children or your wife asked for plastic surgery? What’s your advice to them on going under the knife?
AO: “My wife, Robyn, like myself has had some minimally invasive pick-me-ups (e.g. botox, fillers, laser, radiofrequency tightening). She is all about looking natural and age appropriate not like a cosmetic junkie.
My kids (who are both in med school) are young and don’t need any cosmetic surgery. However, they are big believers in the reconstructive surgeries they have seen me perform over the years. That’s been awe-inspiring for all of us.”
CBS: What are your upcoming summer plans?
AO: “I’m getting Better in 7 this summer. Working on THE THINNER, as we speak.
I am back to giving my practice more face time — and look forward to going to Haiti on a charity mission with my foundation Surgical Friends.
The Daytime Emmys are June 23 and The Doctors is nominated for two–outstanding Talk Show and Talk Show Host. That will be an exciting night.
And with a little sunshine, I hope to get in some time for golfing and the surf. My two personal favs!”
CBS: What’s up next for you?
AO: “Continue on this great wild journey and be a great support to my son Matthew who starts medical school this fall. And I want to win that Emmy!”
