Like many moms out there who have just given birth and want to shed those post baby pounds quickly, Jessica Simpson knows exactly what that feels like.
“I think anybody who’s gone through a pregnancy, after they have the baby, it’s like, ‘I need to do something about this,’ ” she tells PEOPLE. “For me, I really want to do something that is a lifestyle, because in the past, I’ve been known to yo-yo diet.”
The same day she released the first photos of her newborn daughter Maxwell, Jessica took to Twitter to officially announce her new gig as a Weight Watchers spokesperson.
“So excited to be part of the Weight Watchers family,” the new mom tweeted.
Jessica had apparently began the program before she learned she was expecting. Once she found out the wonderful news, she stopped counting points.
“I was like, ‘I’m going to enjoy my pregnancy,’ and I did,” she comments. “I ate very healthy, but I did indulge some of my cravings – and that’s okay because I know I can work it off now.”
Although she has yet to receive the “all clear” consent of her doctor to hit the gym, Jessica claims she is excited to drop her post-baby pounds and that some of her pals will be doing the program with her, for support.
“There’s not a goal weight – I just want to feel normal and fixate on inches,” she says. “I really want to set small goals, so I’m constantly reaching goals and not looking at something so far ahead.”
Jessica and her fiancé Eric Johnson welcomed baby Maxwell Drew on May 1st.
