Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe attended their son Deacon’s football game in Brentwood, Calif. on Friday (June 1). Reese’s husband Jim Toth and Ava also showed up for support.
Ava, 12, – looking pretty in a yellow dress – carried a camera with her. Reese had her hair up in a ponytail and looked relaxed in sandals and a short dress. During a break in the game – Deacon, 8, was seen snacking and relaxing with Ryan.
Reese recently returned from the Cannes Film Festival where she promoted her new film Mud. The pregnant actress told US Weekly that she was feeling “good”.
The flight over was actually pretty good. I feel great. ‘I’m excited about showing the movie. The energy here is great.’
Later on in the day Ava and Deacon were seen with their nanny getting sweat treats at Pinkberry.

It “scares” you? Really? Why? Have you never seen children who look like their parents? That is such a bizarre reaction.
It’s a figure of speech. Come on.
It’s still really stupid. “Scary” at least implies something unexpected or unusual. There’s nothing even remotely surprising about children strongly resembling their parents. It happens all the time.
I think you’re digging a little too deep into a simple figure of speech.
Pretty sure the original poster meant something like it’s amazing how much she looks like her. And when someone resemble one parent the way she does, it’s pretty amazing (and yes, I understand genetics).
It also implies how invested the commenter is in their lives which is…scary.

Ava looks remarkably like her father when she wear sunglasses because her eyes are about the only facial feature she gets from her mother. I don’t know why people persist in saying that Ava looks so much like her mother. Is it the platinum blonde hair? Reese gets hers from a bottle.

I thought the same thing when I saw that. I said “Oh wow, Ava has a Lomo camera!” I love it when I see kids using items that aren’t somehow digital or computer based.

yeesh, a suit and tie to a kid’s football game? it’s like jim was trying a little too hard to be “responsible adult figure” in contrast to ryan “i date 20 year olds” phillippe or something. i get that he’s a high-power agent, but really.

Maybe in your fantasy world he’s trying too hard, but in the real world it’s called going straight to the game from work. Millions of parents do it every single day.

Perhpas he came to the game straight from a meeting. People do have jobs that require them to wear a suit and people do work on Fridays. I am sure you put more thought into his outfit than he did. Many dads and moms go to kids sporting events dressed in work attire since they have to come from the office. Does not seem like a case of trying to hard to me.
