After a difficult couple of years, Dannii Minogue seems ready for a fresh start.

Covering the September issue of Glamour UK, the former X-Factor judge says that as she’s navigated relationship and health struggles, her 2-year-old son Ethan has been her “rock.”

Dannii, who earlier this year split from Ethan’s dad Kris Smith, reveals how a thyroid condition and then an appendicitis left her exhausted in the months after she gave birth.

“It was a scary time because I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I remember looking at Ethan in the cot and thinking, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to pick him up’ – I had that little energy,” she says. “To have the thyroid condition and then the appendicitis, it was a lot for my body to take because only 10 months earlier I’d had a C-section to have Ethan.”

The newly single mom says she’s finally feeling well again, though, telling the magazine, “Now, for the first time in ages, I really feel like I’m back in my body. I have to take tablets every day for my thyroid and I have regular blood tests to monitor it, but I finally feel good again.”

Though her strength is back, Dannii admits it’s still a struggle toting her toddler around!

“He is sooo big. He’s as big as a three year old,” she says. “It’s funny, because he’s still just a little baby and he needs mummy to pick him up but it’s getting harder. He’s heavy but he’s just a complete and utter bundle of joy. Ethan has been my rock.”

Now that she’s on the mend, Dannii is ready to get back to work: “I am actively looking for something that I could do in the UK,” she reveals. “I really want to come back and do something, but I would want it to be right.”
