The stars came out for the 2nd Annual Red CARpet Event on Saturday at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, Calif. Some of our favorite celebrity parents helped to help spread the word about the critical importance of child passenger safety.
Attendees included event host, Hollywood Girls Night star Ali Landry and her two children: Estela, 5, and son Marcelo, 10 months. Also spotted with their adorable kids were White Collar‘s Tiffani Thiessen, The Biggest Loser star Alison Sweeney and we even caught a glimpse of Dallas star Leonor Varela‘s growing baby bump!
“The importance of the Red CARpet event and the reason that we are here today is raising awareness for car seat safety,” Ali Landy tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “To start that conversation among families, among parents, and at the end of the day we just want to keep our kids safe.”
Ali added: “Car seat installation, car seat safety is something that people just assume they know how to do, it’s easy, you put it in the car, latch it in, you put a seat belt, and you’re good to go. There is so much more to it and I think once you know better you do better. For us it is just important to start that conversation and raise that awareness among parents.”
Ali couldn’t help but take a moment to gush about the joys of motherhood.
“I love everything,” she said. “It’s the unconditional love you receive from your children and just to hear their laughter. The joy in your heart and soul, you are so full and I never experienced that until I had my kids.”
The star-studded event was also attended by a long list of our favorite celebrity parents: Constance Zimmer (Entourage), Marla Sokoloff (The Practice), Briana Culberson & Vicki Gunvalson (Real Housewives of Orange County), Jennifer Aspen (GCB), Eric Ladin (The Killing), Lindsay Sloane (Horrible Bosses), Sarah Lancaster (Chuck), Marisol Nichols (GCB), Archie Kao (CSI), Mark Deklin (GCB), Christie Lynn Smith (General Hospital), Catherine McCord (host/model), Dave Kushner (musician, Velvet Revolver), Ian Ziering (Beverly Hills, 90210), Anya Sarre (celebrity stylist), Talon Smith (Stars Earn Stripes), and baby expert Dr. Harvey Karp.
Alison Sweeney talked with Celebrity Baby Scoop about the importance of car seat safety.
“It doesn’t surprise me that three out of four car seats are installed incorrectly… my husband is a CHP officer, so luckily I had the advantage of the inside scoop,” Alison told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “The truth is, anyone can go to a CHP office and they will help you install in. They have people that do that. You have to make the effort to find out exactly how to install the car seat because that is what keeps our kids safe.”
Constance Zimmer added, “That is one of the most important things you do when you have a kid – you make sure that they are protected within your own car.”
New mom Lindsay Sloane opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the importance of keeping your baby safe.
“Before you have a child you don’t really think about any of these things,” the new mom of 7-month-old daughter Maxwell said. “When you are pregnant you are suddenly bombarded with all this information of these things that you need to be aware of once your child is born. I think that car seat safety is something that people may take for granted. I know that my parents always say, ‘When you were born we just sat you on a basinet on the seat and didn’t even buckle you in and we drove you home from the hospital.’ Now we are at a point in our lives where we can prevent horrible things form happening.”
Beverly Hills, 90210 alum Ian Ziering, new dad to 1-year-old daughter Mia, took the time to gush about his beautiful family at the event.
“I’m the luckiest guy in the world and that was validated when I met my wife,” Ian told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “Having our daughter sixteen months ago has just been a complete shift in me.”
The Real Housewives of Orange County‘s Vicki Gunvalson and Briana Culberson wer at the event and talked about the importance of car seat safety.
“I haven’t installed a car seat in 25 years so I know that there are a lot of new options available in the cars as well as the car seats and safety is obviously the most important thing,” Vicki told Celebrity Baby Scoop.
Briana added: “Eighty percent of car seats are installed incorrectly which is huge. I know that she is really busy at work and it’s hard to get her focused on something, so I want her to make sure that she knows how to safely use this… she just bought the bat mobile. She bought the most insane car”
New mom Jennifer Aspen was on hand and opened up about the adoption of her daughter Charlotte.
“I’ll totally cry, but it’s something that we have wanted for a long time,” she told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “It’s such a joy, just taking care of her and hanging out with her, and just being a mom is something that I have dreamed of for a long time, so it’s awesome.”
And a great time was had by all! Tiffani Thiessen‘s 2-year-old daughter Harper was seen jumping on a trampoline brought by Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park.
Ali Landy and daughter Estela were seen doing arts and craft at the Lakeshore table and she wore her son Marcelo in an Ergobaby Carrier.
Safe Kids Worldwide joined sponsor Britax for this important public awareness event. The event benefits Safe Kids, a non-profit whose mission is to prevent unintentional childhood injury. During the event, a team of certified technicians installed more than 30 Britax car and booster seats in vehicles for VIPs and celebrities.
Every year, thousands of children are tragically injured or killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes. In fact, motor vehicle crashes in the U.S. are the leading cause of death for children age 3 and older. Installing car seats correctly and securing children properly is the most effective combination of steps to protecting them in the event of a crash. Roughly 3 out of 4 child safety seats are not used correctly.View Slideshow »»
