Skinnygirl mogul and talk show host Bethenny Frankel has let fans inside her and husband Jason Hoppy’s quest to decorate their New York City apartment. Even though the rest of their apartment is clean and classic, she revealed her daughter, 2 year-old Bryn, wanted a colorful and fun new room.
“I truly loved the process,” she wrote on her website. “Especially picking out furniture and decor for Bryn’s room!”
Forget boring beige, Bryn wanted a pretty pink room, however Bethenny wanted it to be soft and calming. “Pink is Bryn’s favorite color. I wanted to incorporate the color pink without it being too overwhelming, so I chose a soft color combination of buttercream and pale pink,” Frankel said, posting photos of her room. “It reminded me of yummy cupcakes!”
Wallpaper is one of the hottest trends for kid’s rooms, and Bethenny’s choice is whimsical and fun, with soft pink florals and happy monkeys decorating her wall. Bethenny said the wallpaper was actually one of the first things they picked out. “Bryn loves all animals, especially monkeys. We’ve always heard ‘no more monkeys jumping on the bed!’ so we put them on the wall,” she said.
Bethenny admits she is “OCD” and wanted Bryn’s room to be organized and clutter-free. “I LOVE organization, and it’s especially important in a child’s room, where it is so easy to get messy,” she says. “The toy chest at the foot of the bed provides a ‘home’ for all of Bryn’s small toys. I picked this furniture from Bellini because it’s clean, pretty, and classic furniture that could be used for years to come.”
Bryn’s room is full of personal touches, including a painted portrait of her favorite pink elephant hanging in her room, which was given to her by a “loyal fan.”
Bethenny manages to create a home that is stylish, yet kid-friendly. Take some tips from Bethenny by looking for furniture pieces that have dual functions (seating plus storage) and avoid sharp edges by looking for leather ottomans instead of a glass coffee table.
