Richie Sambora: Ava Inspired Me To Get Sober

*EXCLUSIVE* Richie and Ava Sambora cool off in Calabasas

Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora says he owes his sobriety in part to his 15-year-old daughter Ava.

In an interview with Classic Rock magazine, the 53-year-old musician reveals that Ava was “a big part” of his decision to go to rehab last year.

“She (Ava) was like an angel to me, man… that was the catalyst for me actually getting sober.”

Richie, who split from Ava’s mom Heather Locklear in 2006, says he’s thankful for the time he spent at the facility, saying, “People look at rehab as a bad thing … I looked at it as an opportunity to do something positive for myself.”

“Luckily I wasn’t that guy who lost his band, his family, his house and his job,” he adds. “I wasn’t a victim.”

That’s what I was thinking. His daughter has been alive for 15 years, but it was just LAST year that he suddenly got “inspired”? Pulleeze….

The minute that they found out that Heather was pregnant with their child, he should have stopped drinking or doing drugs or whatever he was doing! People have to realize that it is not only themselves they are do danger to, it is now a child coming into the world that you are doing danger too also! He is so full of it. Don’t put his daughter into him getting sober, you have to do it for yourself and stay sober.

From reading all of the above comment you people obviously have never dealt with a person with addiction problem because if you did you would know its not that easy.

Can you not read? People are questioning why he SUDDENLY has decided his daughter deserves a sober father. She’s F-I-F-T-E-E-N. So for the first 15 years of her life, she didn’t inspire him to get clean?
