It looks like The Big Bang Theory star Simon Helberg and his wife Joceyln Towne had quite a scare when she went into labor with their 6-month-old daughter Adeline in May.
It seems the couple were forced to abandon their plans for an at-home birth when the threat of a bacterial infection led to a hospital-dash drama.
Although they had hired a midwife to deliver the baby, Simon admits things went awry hours after Jocelyn went into labor.
“It got to a point where we had to actually transfer to the hospital because the baby, on the way out, had gone to the bathroom and that’s an immediate transfer,” Simon tells David Letterman.
After their daughter arrived safe and sound, Simon says his in-laws were shaken when he informed them of the happy news via a text – since the message contained a glaring grammatical error.
“The only people who knew that she was in labor were her parents and her brother, and I’m in charge of communicating with them, so I have to text them,” he says. “And I’m like, ‘They’re gonna go crazy when I tell them we’re going to the hospital.’
“So I… said, ‘Not an emergency. Everything’s fine. It’s just we’re going to the hospital because the baby popped…’ It (iPhone) auto-corrected the word… (and) what happens is you get a lot of frantic phone calls,” he laughs.
