Jamie Anne & Marshall Allman Expecting Twins

2011 TCM Classic Film Festival: "An American In Paris" - Arrivals

Congratulations – times two! – to The Killing star Jamie Anne Allman and her husband Marshall Allman. The couple announced today that they are expecting twins!

“We were ecstatic to find out we were pregnant and overjoyed to learn that they were fraternal twins,” Jamie Anne and Marshall tell PEOPLE. “Twins run in both of our families so we were prepared for the possibility, but we know we’re gonna need all the prayers and help we can get.”

Both actors – Marshall has starred in TV hits such as True Blood and Prison Break – the expectant parents chose a unique way to share the happy news with family and friends.

“Both of us being actors, we made a film,” they reveal. “It made it super fun and easy to share the news in a surprising way across the country.”

The babies on the way will be the first for the pair, who tied the knot in 2006.

More than running in their families i think having twins now runs in the water. It’s not odd to have twins nowadays. The odd thing is to have one at a time. :-P

It’s largely due to IVF treatments, more than anything. A friend of mine did a paper on it for her biostatistics class last year. The increase in fraternal twins (not identical, those are completely random) is only in very specific demographics, mostly older (30+) & wealthier (upper middle-class & up) females who’ve had some form of IVF or fertility treatment. They still occur naturally, of course, but my friend’s statistics were pretty clear as to the primary causes behind the sudden, sharp rise in fraternal twin births.

“Twins run in both of our families” – first of all it doesn’t matter at all if everyone born on the dads side of the family is twins. That doesn’t mean anything. Natural Fraternal twins only happen when the mom ovulates more than 1 egg at a time. Also since they are so quick to mention twins in the family seems like they want to Gide the possibility of fertility treatments. Which is really too bad as it is nothing to be ashamed of.
