Congratulations are in order for Christie Lynn Smith and John Fortson.
“Santa was really good to us this year! Our son, Joshua Taylor Fortson, was born Saturday, December 22 at 2:07 pm. at Providence St. Josephs Hospital in Burbank,” the actress confirms with Celebrity Baby Scoop. “He weighed 7 pounds 4 ounces and was 20 inches long.”
The Smith-Fortsons brought their newest addition home on Christmas Eve.
“He has beautiful blue eyes, a button nose and the sweetest lips and the softest brown hair. I’m in love with this little guy,” she gushes. “We are both doing great! And my husband and I are thrilled with our little one’s arrival. We came home from the hospital on Christmas Eve. My parents had just flown in the night I went into labor. Perfect timing! They were and continue to be such a great help. The holidays are about families coming together and so it’s special that my family was here to celebrate and welcome Joshua to the world.”
And it sounds like their 4-year-old daughter Abby was just as excited about the newest family member.
“Abby was excited,” the General Hospital star said of their daughter. “She’s been talking and singing to my tummy during my pregnancy. She kept saying, ‘When am I going to meet my baby brother?’ We really have made a celebration about her being a big sister and included her in helping out as much as possible. I think the transition is going smoothly. When she saw Joshua for the first time, she looked so sweet, like she was going to cry out of happiness. ‘He’s so cute!’ she said. She keeps calling herself ‘sister’ and enjoys giving him skin to skin tummy time on our bed in the morning.”
“I think there will be more love, happiness, & laughter,” the Paging Dr. Freed actress says. “It’s such a wonderful blessing to raise a family.
The mom-of-two plans to teach her kids to relish in the joys life.
“To follow your heart in everything they do,” she says of her highest hopes for her children. “To follow their dreams and not give up. To believe in themselves and know they are enough. To be kind. To treat others with respect. Don’t let your fears stand in the way of your dreams.”
She adds: “A happy healthy life full of laughter, creativity, travel and discovery. That they reach past disappointments and keep walking toward their dreams living the fullest life they can.”View Slideshow »»
