Claire Danes: “I Would Make A Lousy Stay-At-Home Mom”

New mom Claire Danes covers the February issue of ELLE in an embellished top from Just Cavalli and jewels by Cartier. The 33-year-old Homeland actress – who welcomed son Cyrus with husband Hugh Dancy on December 17 – talks motherhood and growing up in Hollywood.

On waiting to have children: “I’ve always wanted to have kids, but I’m glad I didn’t until now. When I was thinking about [working and being a mother] originally, I was really nervous about it…I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn’t suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I’ve had this arrow-straight focus…that I wanted to act.”

On teenagers growing up in Hollywood today: “When I was younger, I was a little bit more restless, but there weren’t as many eyes. There weren’t as many tabloids or the number of cameras that everyone’s armed with. I feel huge sympathy for teenagers who have suddenly found themselves as public figures now, because it just sucks for them.”

On her relationship with husband Hugh Dancy: “Hugh was just the right partner for me. I got very, very lucky. There’s only so much credit you can take when it just sort of works, you know? And obviously we work hard at maintaining our relationship—that is central to both our lives—but at the same time, it’s just this kind of ease that I can’t really account for.”

I always feel a bit sorry for her as she looks like a plain Gwyneth Paltrow.

After her comment about how she ” would make a lousy stay-at-home mom” feels to me she is degrading stay at home moms or somehow finds them lousy. Not everyone can be a stay at home mom Claire especially with your mutt you wouldn’t want to scare away your baby. I used to find her very unattractive physically and now internally I guess the saying is true how beauty lies within.

She’s saying she wouldn’t be a good stay at home mom, not that there is something wrong with stay at home moms. You’re deliberately misinterpreting her, although god knows why?

Why have a baby if your not intending to stay at home with him/her when they need you the most.. yeah I get going back to work etc after a year or so but what the????! She just gave birth obviously she has no maternal bone in her thick skull.
